LEARNING FROM ANCIENT CIVILISATIONS
In our western civilisation we are taught to increase our knowledge through learning - learning mostly through books, manuals, courses…. and more courses, degrees, diplomas,…
BUT we only truly learn through having AN EXPERIENCE - and even then - the experience on its own is not enough –
it has to awaken something in us - a deeper understanding that changes us in some way.
This is probably one of the most important reasons that I am committed to following the path of the Ancient People. They truly understood that learning has nothing to do with how much academic knowledge or trainings one has accumulated - it has to do with a change in consciousness.
And so I structure the SACRED EARTH RETREATS in such a way that you don’t get “head” knowledge, but instead it is designed to give you a living experience of the place and the culture- so that it can - in turn, change you and help you to awaken your spirituality and consciousness.
It is easy to travel, it is not so easy to create a change in consciousness. There is a huge difference between visiting a place and being in awe of its historical facts and splendour - amazing yes!- but unless in some way you have had a real experience with it, it has a significant impact on you, it all remains academic.
You need to be changed by the place you visit.
You need to find the “teaching” of that place.
The ancient civilisations have many teachings for us! We need to extract an underlying philosophy or spiritual message from the remains of a civilisation as they lived there.
They left us all the clues- but we need to decipher them, make sense of them and apply that to our time now. Just like a guiding light that can show the way.
SO WHAT ARE THE SPIRITUAL TEACHINGS OF EGYPT IN 2010?
Searching for the spiritual teachings of the Ancient Egyptians, I find the many temples of Egypt fascinating to visit, but what really captures my attention more than anything is what we find inside them!
In places like Peru and Mexico the structures of the temples and cities are amazing, their layout - and how they were aligned to the Earth’s energy lines and surrounding features of the landscape. But what is noticeable, especially in Peru, is the absence of any sculptures.
Yet in the temples of Egypt one is struck by the awesome- and they are truly awesome!- sculptures of the Egyptian gods and goddesses. Filled with these representations of the pharaohs and other celestial beings, they seem real and alive. And the meticulous care with which they were made, just mind boggling!
The Ancient Egyptians were pre-occupied with the concept of bringing the divine into the human body – to merge the two so that there would literally be divine human beings walking on this Earth! And so they studied and were masters of how to project energy- a form of shape shifting- into the sculptures- literally as if one could blow life force into the stone and granite that they used.
These sculptures were filled with sleeping spirits - and it is as if they have been waiting- as if they are really our own more divine and complete selves that we can now access for positive power and authority to create a peaceful and better world.
But this can only be done with the Heart! Only the purest of energy such as the Heart is able to hold a high enough frequency to open those portals and access those keys of the Earth. Because those sculptures were made from the Earth- just like our bodies that return to the Earth when we die…
The worship of physical sculptures in Egypt would seem to some people rather primitive. But the ancient Egyptians did not look at it in our modern way: they understood that it was the representation of something more - the Divine! They were using the sculpture as a physical key or way to connect to their spirituality.
THE 2010 JOURNEY
And so - during this exceptional journey in October 2010- we will be searching for the higher spiritual teachings of the Ancient Egyptians:
Visiting the Temples, we will be looking to access connections to the spiritual energies that are still being held in the magnificent sculptures in temples of Egypt.
On the very significant date of 10 October 2010, we will be at the temple of ISIS in Philae to celebrating a new beginning and the restoration of our connection to the Earth .
There will also be an opportunity to attend healing ceremonies with an Egyptian healer and the wisdom plant SAN PEDRO.
All of this to culminate in the incredible experience of the GREAT PYRAMID of Giza – to amplify everything that we have gained through our divine connection to the Ancient Egyptians.

What makes a SACRED EARTH retreat journey so special?

Elizabeth has facilitated many different groups through the years and always sets an intention to attract people to the journey that have soul connections and so are able to share deep meaningful experiences and also have fun together (yes we can have it all!!) during the trip. And so the groups are smaller (max 12) and very special - with many long lasting friendships being formed. This is a very important spiritual gift from the journey that stays with the participants even after their time together has ended.
So please know this is not an ordinary tourist journey! On as SACRED EARTH RETREAT journey you are introduced to Egypt in a very special way and with that, you are able to unlock so many more spiritual gifts than if you are merely going there as a traveller for the first time:
You are prepared for the journey on a soul level from the time you decide to go and so when you arrive in Egypt, you are already on a different level for connecting to the Earth there. This is a very important, because it can often take many trips (if not lifetimes!) for you to get to that level of openness and Earth connection.
On the practical side, most tour operators do two or more temples in a day which leaves very little time than just to have a walk around, get some interesting facts and take some photographs. On this trip you will see the most important temples of Egypt, but you will more importantly also be able to be quiet and experience the special atmosphere of each place at times that are most beneficial. You can only feel the profound effect of a sacred place when you are able to go within, be still and become more than an ordinary tourist.
Such an experience can have a life changing effect on you.
You are helped to go within when we visit a site so that you are able to energetically tune into the site with a positive intention, and it is not uncommon for participants to have memories surface that help to awaken them spiritually over many months and years later.
After visits we will have the opportunity to share our experiences as a group and also work with integrating these gifts we receive from the special places we visit so as to make it a spiritual journey in the true sense of the word.

Please note that nothing on the scheduled programme is compulsory- it there to help and assist you to have a spiritual experience of Egypt, but it is up to you as to how and when you want to join in. Having said that, I would encourage you to do take part in as much as you can, because very often it is by taking yourself out of your comfort zone that magic happens!
SAN PEDRO CEREMONIES OFFERED ON THE TRIP
We still have the heritage of wisdom plants that naturally enables one to move from one state into another as healing and awakening of our consciousness. This largely untapped treasure became taboo in Western culture because its power was feared and also the ignorance of some who frivolously use them to induce intense visions/hallucinations that have nothing to do with healing!
Yet the wisdom plants have been used for centuries by the indigenous peoples of the world. Tibet, China, Mexico, Peru, Indonesia, Egypt, Africa, - the list goes on and on. Each culture has understood the power of healing from the wisdom plants- sometimes called the “death” plants, because of them facilitating a shamanic “death” experience of the old and a re-birthing of the new – purifying the person on many levels such as physically, emotionally, psychologically and spiritually.
Probably one of the most well known wisdom plant is the Ayahuaska plant of the Amazon in Peru. There is also the Cactus plant called San Pedro that participants will have an opportunity to do ceremony with on the trip.
Each wisdom plant offers it own unique experience, but what they have in common is the ability to open up the sensory perceptions and abilities of the brain and body to beyond what one is normally capable of- thereby allowing an opportunity to experience learning on the deepest level possible.
Performing a ceremony in nature close to a sacred site can magnify the benefits of such experience enormously – and to open up to what is really there.
What do I need to know about food?
All breakfasts are included. The buffet breakfasts in Egypt are fantastic and can keep you going until dinner.
Lunch and suppers are included on the cruise and also take the form of buffets. A variety is offered, with soup, salads, main courses and desert. Quality is good be prepared to get used to the idea of large buffets. The boat also offers evening entertainment such as belly dancing, games etc.
Tea and coffee are often included with meals, but outside those you will need to pay for them. Please ask before you order!!
What do I need to know about the cruise?
There is a swimming pool on the deck so please remember to bring your bathing costume. You are able to sit outside on the upper deck to read or lie on a sun bed, otherwise you can keep cool inside with air conditioning.
Currencies and tipping
The local currency is Egyptian pounds and there are about 5.5 Egyptian pounds to 1 US DOLLAR.
Tipping is expected in Egypt and to make things easier, tips are collected at the beginning of the trip so that you don’t need to do any tipping yourself. Budget for $150 to cover tipping of all porters, boat staff, the Egyptian tour guide and bus drivers.
What is the accommodation like?
We stay in very comfortable and luxurious 4/5 star hotels and cruise boats that have luxury facilities available and most importantly- very friendly and helpful staff!
How do we travel?
We travel as a group together in an air conditioned micro bus for site visits and we also do a cruise on the Nile that is very special. As part of the experience we do an overnight train journey and we also fly between Cairo and Luxor (the Upper Nile region in the south).
Entrance fees
All entrance tickets are included in the price of the trip except for optional special visits such as to Tutankhamon’s Tomb (100 Egyptian pounds or approx $20). You will also have the option of doing a spectacular hot air balloon sunrise trip in Luxor (cost approximately $150).
What do I need to know about weather?
Egypt gets incredibly hot in summer, so best to visit in spring and autumn/winter and so this trip will be in autumn the best time of the year to be in Egypt. But the sun is always strong and it rains very seldomly- they are dependent on the Nile River for their water- so bring sunhat and sunscreen and also lotion for insect bites while you are doing the cruise.
International, local flights, train journey
The international flight from South Africa to Cairo is overnight and flies from Johannesburg arriving very early morning. There are many international flights flying directly to Cairo- e.g. British Midlands from UK etc so check with your travel agent or on the internet.
When you leave for your return flight it is advisable to give yourself 4 hours- the traffic in Cairo is incredibly busy and unpredictable! If you are nervous about traffic best to not sit next to a window when you are travelling in the bus or taxi- it is rather chaotic but they are very good drivers! You will be escorted from Cairo airport as you arrive and also taken there for your return journey by our travel agent in Egypt.
The internal flight from Cairo to Luxor is very short and lasts under an hour.
The train journey is a shared compartment where you have meals- the cabins are small but very well laid out and have upper and lower deck beds (for two people sharing).Great fun to do!
What is special about the clothing I need to know for Egypt?
Clothing is best to layer- one jersey in case it gets cold at night out on the upper deck of the boat.
Egypt is a Muslim country and as a sign of respect, no shorts and open t shirts. When we visit the temples it is preferable for your arms and legs to be covered, but on the boat you are welcome to stay in your bathing costume! Meals are more formal at night on the boat so bring something nice to wear. You will find many beautiful scarves in Egypt if you need to cover up more and it is also cooler to wear for the sun.

EARTH CHANGES AND US
Flooding at Machu Picchu - earthquakes in Chile - storms and drownings in France – the list goes on and on…..
The Earth has always experienced extreme weather patterns and catastrophic events, but never at this scale and regularity as are happening this year and WITH us humans still being here and living on the planet.
This is unprecedented change happening right before our eyes and oh boy- how our eyes are being opened!
Nothing can stay the same- us, our families, our homes, our work, our consciousness.
And that is what this is all about- a complete change in consciousness that releases everything, but everything from the past, and bringing a new awareness that is fresh, alive, vital and honouring- honouring of ourselves, of those around us- and of the Earth.
2010 is a year of fire and as predicted, this is not going to be a comfortable ride. Have faith in your body being able to cope with this ride- it has all the wisdom and power to do so, all we need to do is direct our energies and intention more- more towards a common goal, more towards benefiting everybody, more with the awareness that when I do something to help “out there” and what is seemingly not really a part of me, I am also helping myself immensely.

NOTICING AND DEALING WITH THE “SMALL”
The other big teaching at the moment is to pay attention to the minute and the small. It is the small that is also the big, and when we can master the small, it is the big that also changes. It has to be so, because all is connected- and yes, big surprise! The small is the big- we have just been conditioned to believe that we are powerless and only if we are able to change the big can the world change!
Well think again… when you donate one piece of clothing to the people in Haiti you are doing something big- it is the energy that counts, not the physical thing!
I remember when living in Cornwall I would often take some cake and spread it along the river for the faeries.
And yes, of course the faeries can’t physically eat it!! But you know, they are able to digest and take in the energy of Love that came from just putting it there for them.
So some may think I am mad- faeries? They don’t exist- a figment of the imagination. However, how many of you have seen the orbs on your cameras? And do you remember the time when the aura was a mystic concept and now it is as simple as taking an aura photograph?
Yes the world is changing and so are our perceptions of what is real. This material world is not where we are at- even in the hype of advertising that tells us that by having a material thing we will at last be happy, hides the truth that what we are really after is an emotional state of something.
WE ARE ALL LOOKING FOR PEACE
So start noticing what makes you happy or gives you that peace- when do you feel connected? You will probably find it is it is the “small” moments in life- in your contact with people that resonates with the Heart and love, and Mother Earth – Nature. That is all that is real- no thing, no money, nothing in the material world can give us back our sanity or security.
MAKING A DIFFERENCE
Many people have been asking (including myself) what we can do to ease and assist with this major transition we are going through. At times my body have felt as heavy as lead and it has been so difficult just to accomplish the smallest of tasks. Yet when I managed to drag myself out of my inertia, miracles started to happen- it just needed that one step of doing something to get things started. I find physical exercise and being in nature- even if it is just working with a pot plant- immediately connects my energy and I stop feeling so tired. It is as if I get plugged in and start moving with the flow.
Later on in the magazine I will be talking about you also thinking of doing some earth healing work- especially in places where the Earth is still aligned and it “feels good”. See if you can do some of this, it is easy, and will help to ground you to – and the Earth and so many other people will feel the benefit of it:

THE MOON CYCLE OF MARCH
We have just had the very intense full moon yesterday (Sunday 28th February) in the sign of Virgo that brought with it difficult but huge cleansings and healing opportunities. Virgo is the sign of purity and so the energies of the Ash Moon (as it is called in the Celtic tradition) have been helping us to purge and cleanse aspects of ourselves and our world that have become contaminated and lack purity by a healing process of forgiveness and letting go.
The full moon was also the day of the Chinese Lantern Festival, the Tibetan Butter Lamp Festival and the Jewish festival of Purim that is based on the Book of Esther and traditionally celebrated to avert a massacre in Persia.
The moon will now be waning until the Equinox Dark Moon on the 15th MARCH when the new moon will start in the fire sign of Aries (new beginnings, inspiration). 15th MARCH is also the beginning of the Hindu LUNAR NEW YEAR. The cycle for this new Moon is called the ALDER MOON in the Celtic tradition.
On the 20th MARCH it is the SPRING EQUINOX in the Northern Hemisphere and the autumn equinox in the Southern Hemisphere.
This is an incredibly important date, because huge cosmic energies will be flowing into the planet and it will be an amazing opportunity to ground and anchor these high frequencies for our lives and also the Earth, by being conscious and by keeping our heart open. There will be an expansion of our hearts- some may even feel this physically- as if we are able to hold more of the high vibration in our hearts and our body. Breathing during this time will be very important. It may feel overwhelming for some, and so just to rest and slow down anything you may need to do, so as to help the body to adapt to these new energies more consciously. The animals will also be helping us a lot to ease the transition that becomes very intense during this time.
I will be with a group in Egypt doing a ceremony with the Great Pyramid and you will be most welcome to join us energetically through your intention to connect and be part of it. Send love to the Great Pyramid and it enormous structure, so as to awaken the Stones and strengthen the angelic energies that will be working with the group and the Earth there. It is a very interesting group of people coming to Egypt, representing over 5 countries (Romania, Switzerland, UK, South Africa, USA, Zimbabwe) and so helping to bring healing for those countries in particular. The pagan Equinox Full Moon will be in the sign of 29th MARCH in the sign of Libra.
WHAT ARE THE PLANETS UP TO THIS MONTH?
Mars has still been very bright in the sky but is fading gradually in intensity as it moves further away from the Earth. Mars was close to the Moon on 25th February.
On 21st March Saturn will be opposite the Sun and its nearest to Earth this orbit - at 1272 million kilometres or 70.7 light minutes. The rings of Saturn that have been hidden from our view here on Earth for some time now, are beginning to make a reappearance and you should be able to see them through a small telescope.

Much has been written about Sacred Sites of the World. These places of the Earth could be natural places of earth power, such as the Niagra Falls, Machu Picchu or places built through human effort such as the Pyramids of Egypt, South America and elsewhere in the world.
What is so special about Sacred Sites? They are places where the energy and healing ability of the Earth is magnified and so it is possible to have very special experiences there. As this quote above says, it was a place where one could go and find some kind of spiritual experience in nature very easily.
These places were also built or just naturally have and the building of the temples etc magnified it- a very strong cosmic connection with the stars and planets above. And so it was possible to experience both heaven and earth at the same time.
As time passed we forgot about this and became very alienated from nature in especially the Western Civilisation. We started to fear nature and the Earth because of her awesome power that we now longer understood and also wanted to control for our own purposes. And so we disrupted the earth energies and stopped them from flowing. The energy of the Earth mainly conducts through water and crystals- crystals are really just crystallised water and they have an amazing ability to bring alignment and unity back into the Earth and with us.
Crystals do not necessarily have to be the type you find in shops- it can be stones and even shells have a very crystalline nature- so you can find them everywhere in nature- if you know where to look and become more aware. Trees are also very important, because they “control” and regulate the flow of water in the Earth through their roots. The roots have far more functions that we know- they anchor the tree, draw nourishment etc, but they also do so much more in terms of the whole ecology and environment- we need to be very grateful to the roots of trees!! They are helping us immensely at the moment.
During this upcoming Equinox, find a place where you feel very happy and peaceful- preferably outside, but you may also find that inside with maybe a view of something lovely outside in nature. Just tune in with your intention and see where you are guided to sit or stand. Don’t allow your mind to interfere and tell you why- logically- it should not be where you want to be naturally.
Now take your attention to your third eye- the area between the eyebrows and start to focus your mind there. Try to imagine a light that is shining directly into the third eye- as if it is being highlighted for some reason. See if you can hold your focus there for a while, just helping your body to get used to the feeling. You may feel a slight warmth there, or buzzing- whatever you feel or don’t feel - just relax with it.
Now start to imagine a colour- a very, very light, almost see through blue. Intensify this colour and make it bigger- as if you are building it in the third eye. Now imagine that you are connecting and bringing down this light also to your physical heart and your heart becoming stronger- it is able to beat more easily and slowly- as if it is settling down.
Stay with that for a few minutes.
Now imagine that you are inside a beautiful tree and you can feel the roots of your tree going deep down into the Earth – just as if they are coming from your feet. Feel the freedom of the roots although they are also in the Earth and connected.
Now imagine a beautiful pink crystal that is at the very bottom of the roots of the tree. Feel the gentleness and love of this crystal and how it is creating harmony all around the area of the roots.
Imagine that you are drawing up through the roots of your tree the most beautiful energised and clear water- the water is being imprinted with the love energy of the crystal and so is carrying that up the tree to its branches and leaves. Feel the revitalising energy of this on all parts of your tree.
Feel how your body is also benefiting from this experience. Feel how stable and secure your body feels.
Now imagine that with your intention you are sending love and gratitude down into the Earth - first through the trunk of the tree and then through the roots and finally into the Earth herself.
Feel the Earth drinking up this love energy that is coming from you and your heart and how it connects you and the Earth, - it is almost as if you can feel her heart beat in you.
See yourself as a part of her- your body being a part of the Earth and she is a living part of you.
Now if you want, broaden your focus and imagine that you are connecting with the Great Pyramid of Giza. Imagine the shape of the Pyramid and see how the walls of the pyramid are glowing- gold and silver and there is the same light, light blue colour that is coming down into the apex of the pyramid. Give thanks to the builders of the pyramid for creating this structure on Earth. Realise it is a conductor of positive energies for ourselves and our planet.
Feel the joy of reconnecting with the Pyramid and also its true purpose.
Stay with this image and after a while, you can slowly come back more into your everyday surroundings and drink some water.
EARTH HEALING
We all can make a difference while we are outside in nature- often we become more aware of these opportunities when we are travelling, but we can just as easily do this in our garden or in a park or field nearby.
Jenny Hart (one of the participants that went to Peru with me in August) recently went to New Zealand and Australia and has written this of what she experienced and did there:
MY TRIP TO NEW ZEALAND AND AUSTRALIA.
While on holiday in January 2010 I was privileged to go to the most northerly tip of New Zealand, to Cape Reinga. We got there after travelling along 90 Mile beach in a bus especially modified to go on sand and the tide was low so we were able to travel the length of the beach. We came out the other side along a riverbed with huge dunes on either side. We climbed to the top carrying a buggy board which was hard work but the reward was a very fast trip down!
After all this exhilaration we arrived at Cape Reinga. In Maori legend, this is where the spirits of the deceased leave the land. This is also where the Pacific Ocean and the Tasman Sea merge. We walked to the light house and to the point which was a long walk down to Spirits bay. Several energies were swirling around but due to the busloads of tourists it was difficult to connect, so I just sent love and light to both the earth and “stuck” souls. We then came back to the Bay of Islands and had a beautiful boat trip with loads of dolphins frolicking around the boat. They had babies with them so we were unable to swim with them but they entertained us for hours. We had to leave as it was getting late -with special memories.
We then travelled to Australia and drove down the east coast from Brisbane to Sydney and decided to go inland to the Blue Mountains. As it was January it was very hot 40 degrees and so we looked for shade in the canopy of trees that cover these mountains and the special rock formations. One evening we waited for all the tourists to leave and the whole area was filled with this special Blue Haze, we were at the sight of the 3 Sisters in Katoomba. You are above the canopy and you can see a long way into the distance, one mountain is completely surrounded by other mountains and it reminded me of Mother Earth sitting in the middle of the huge universe with all the interplay of energies and oneness.
I also felt the same peaceful energy of Machu Picchu and I linked the two energies by leaving some charms that I had brought along, a drum from the shaman in Peru, some beads from Janet with a heart that had fallen off my key ring, a Rhodonite stone from my altar at home and a special quartz crystal from Elizabeth in Pringle bay. I offered these to air, wind, fire and earth as blessings to link the energies and asked the angels to send light to the people of the Blue Mountains.
It was a special place and I thought I would share this with you.

EARTH CHANGES AND US
Flooding at Machu Picchu - earthquakes in Chile - storms and drownings in France – the list goes on and on…..
The Earth has always experienced extreme weather patterns and catastrophic events, but never at this scale and regularity as are happening this year and WITH us humans still being here and living on the planet.
This is unprecedented change happening right before our eyes and oh boy- how our eyes are being opened!
Nothing can stay the same- us, our families, our homes, our work, our consciousness.
And that is what this is all about- a complete change in consciousness that releases everything, but everything from the past, and bringing a new awareness that is fresh, alive, vital and honouring- honouring of ourselves, of those around us- and of the Earth.
2010 is a year of fire and as predicted, this is not going to be a comfortable ride. Have faith in your body being able to cope with this ride- it has all the wisdom and power to do so, all we need to do is direct our energies and intention more- more towards a common goal, more towards benefiting everybody, more with the awareness that when I do something to help “out there” and what is seemingly not really a part of me, I am also helping myself immensely.
LET PEACE FILL MY HEART
Keep us, o God,
from all pettiness
Let us be large in thought,
in word, in deed.
Let us be done
with fault finding
and leave off all self-seeking.
May we put away all pretence

NOTICING AND DEALING WITH THE “SMALL”
The other big teaching at the moment is to pay attention to the minute and the small. It is the small that is also the big, and when we can master the small, it is the big that also changes. It has to be so, because all is connected- and yes, big surprise! The small is the big- we have just been conditioned to believe that we are powerless and only if we are able to change the big can the world change!
Well think again… when you donate one piece of clothing to the people in Haiti you are doing something big- it is the energy that counts, not the physical thing!
I remember when living in Cornwall I would often take some cake and spread it along the river for the faeries.
And yes, of course the faeries can’t physically eat it!! But you know, they are able to digest and take in the energy of Love that came from just putting it there for them.
So some may think I am mad- faeries? They don’t exist- a figment of the imagination. However, how many of you have seen the orbs on your cameras? And do you remember the time when the aura was a mystic concept and now it is as simple as taking an aura photograph?
Yes the world is changing and so are our perceptions of what is real. This material world is not where we are at- even in the hype of advertising that tells us that by having a material thing we will at last be happy, hides the truth that what we are really after is an emotional state of something.
WE ARE ALL LOOKING FOR PEACE
So start noticing what makes you happy or gives you that peace- when do you feel connected? You will probably find it is it is the “small” moments in life- in your contact with people that resonates with the Heart and love, and Mother Earth – Nature. That is all that is real- no thing, no money, nothing in the material world can give us back our sanity or security.
MAKING A DIFFERENCE
Many people have been asking (including myself) what we can do to ease and assist with this major transition we are going through. At times my body have felt as heavy as lead and it has been so difficult just to accomplish the smallest of tasks. Yet when I managed to drag myself out of my inertia, miracles started to happen- it just needed that one step of doing something to get things started. I find physical exercise and being in nature- even if it is just working with a pot plant- immediately connects my energy and I stop feeling so tired. It is as if I get plugged in and start moving with the flow.
Later on in the magazine I will be talking about you also thinking of doing some earth healing work- especially in places where the Earth is still aligned and it “feels good”. See if you can do some of this, it is easy, and will help to ground you to – and the Earth and so many other people will feel the benefit of it:

THE MOON CYCLE OF MARCH
We have just had the very intense full moon yesterday (Sunday 28th February) in the sign of Virgo that brought with it difficult but huge cleansings and healing opportunities. Virgo is the sign of purity and so the energies of the Ash Moon (as it is called in the Celtic tradition) have been helping us to purge and cleanse aspects of ourselves and our world that have become contaminated and lack purity by a healing process of forgiveness and letting go.
The full moon was also the day of the Chinese Lantern Festival, the Tibetan Butter Lamp Festival and the Jewish festival of Purim that is based on the Book of Esther and traditionally celebrated to avert a massacre in Persia.
The moon will now be waning until the Equinox Dark Moon on the 15th MARCH when the new moon will start in the fire sign of Aries (new beginnings, inspiration). 15th MARCH is also the beginning of the Hindu LUNAR NEW YEAR. The cycle for this new Moon is called the ALDER MOON in the Celtic tradition.
On the 20th MARCH it is the SPRING EQUINOX in the Northern Hemisphere and the autumn equinox in the Southern Hemisphere.
This is an incredibly important date, because huge cosmic energies will be flowing into the planet and it will be an amazing opportunity to ground and anchor these high frequencies for our lives and also the Earth, by being conscious and by keeping our heart open. There will be an expansion of our hearts- some may even feel this physically- as if we are able to hold more of the high vibration in our hearts and our body. Breathing during this time will be very important. It may feel overwhelming for some, and so just to rest and slow down anything you may need to do, so as to help the body to adapt to these new energies more consciously. The animals will also be helping us a lot to ease the transition that becomes very intense during this time.
I will be with a group in Egypt doing a ceremony with the Great Pyramid and you will be most welcome to join us energetically through your intention to connect and be part of it. Send love to the Great Pyramid and it enormous structure, so as to awaken the Stones and strengthen the angelic energies that will be working with the group and the Earth there. It is a very interesting group of people coming to Egypt, representing over 5 countries (Romania, Switzerland, UK, South Africa, USA, Zimbabwe) and so helping to bring healing for those countries in particular. (See the earth healing meditation also below).
The pagan Equinox Full Moon will be in the sign of 29th MARCH in the sign of Libra.
WHAT ARE THE PLANETS UP TO THIS MONTH?
Mars has still been very bright in the sky but is fading gradually in intensity as it moves further away from the Earth. Mars was close to the Moon on 25th February.
On 21st March Saturn will be opposite the Sun and its nearest to Earth this orbit - at 1272 million kilometres or 70.7 light minutes. The rings of Saturn that have been hidden from our view here on Earth for some time now, are beginning to make a reappearance and you should be able to see them through a small telescope.

Hi everyone!
2010, A POWERFUL OR A CHAOTIC YEAR?
In the wake of the huge earthquake in Haiti that has been described as a massive humanitarian disaster, the question can only be asked: will this earth event that happened so close to the beginning of the year – as happened at the time of the Tsunami – set the tone for some more natural disasters and potential chaotic happenings that will come in 2010?
The choice is ours, really - as always.
Either we take this as a warning that things need to move more rapidly along, or we can wait for things to just stay the same, with us desperately holding onto the comfort zone.
The choice is ours- and what used to take hours, now only takes minutes, what used to take minutes, now only need seconds to change, and so it goes on.
We are caught up in motions of tremendous change and we can only but flow with it and make the decision to create change consciously, or otherwise the change will happen anyway- and with much more serious consequences…
We are in the midst of huge extremes and so it is now all about keeping BALANCE, BALANCE, BALANCE.
What is balance?
It is the ability to stay centred, a bit like being in the centre of the eye of a storm- where everything is moving so fast that destruction can happen in a second, but being safely held within the core of where everything comes from.
This requires the ability to follow the rhythm of the storm- to know where to move to because we are part of it and we are totally connected. It is staying within the protection and guidance of your Hearts- but this is the great heart of the Cosmos- where there is no place for self indulgence, selfishness, security or control.
The new moon started this cycle in the sign of Aquarius- and as we move more and more into the Aquarian age of brother and sisterhood with a more detached and aware way of being, we are evolving to a great level of Love.
Not just love for humanity, but love for all.
This is a time where we start rolling up our sleeves and say what can I do? Why am I here at this time on the planet? What is the greater plan for my life here?
And guess what- it is not about me and it is not about you. It is about us now- together. To help where is a time of need, to reach out to those who have nothing. To make a difference by knowing that wherever and whatever we are, we can always do something.
As much as you love your family, now it is time to think of the greater family- to really take on board that all of life is part of you. Now it is time to stop dreaming and indulging in what you think you can or possibly can’t do. It is time to move away from the personal to the universal where we think big and know we are part of everything.
It is the only way to survive.
The time for personal childishness and the pre-occupation with how we can be secure and comfortable is over. We are asked to be grown up and responsible- and to flow!
I was touched to see children sleeping amongst the dead bodies after the Haiti earthquake. How can we not be called to do something in action? When I watched the untiring diligence of the sniffer dogs amongst the ruins- how can I still agonise about my place in the world? Surely I need to see that my only place here is to help too?
People need us, the animal kingdoms need us, the Earth needs us! Whatever we do is important, it is paving the way to this new world that is happening and we need to take a step forward. Feel it in the heart, because it is already there- like a seed that has been planted and is now ready to grow. Feel the impatience of having had to wait for too long…
Pray for the people of Haiti- find a way of helping your neighbour, send love each day to the Earth – if only for a moment! as you walk on it with your feet. You don’t need to have anything - you just need to open your heart and know that you are playing a vital role in awakening a new consciousness that is based on a new understanding of everything- that we are interconnected, that we are part of the stars, infinity, beyond, whatever you want to call it.
Call it back into your being, breathe the light that is flooding into the planet at this time. This is a time of some somber happenings but also some amazing opportunities to move forward, forgive and let it all be over - it is a time of great change and we are all part of it.

COSMIC EVENTS HAPPENING
As you have been reading everywhere, we have been going through a powerful process of preparing for this year of 2010.
On 16th December we had an exceptionally powerful new moon, on the 21st December we had the Solstice with the Sun at its zenith/lowest critical point, on the 31st we had a Blue Full Moon (meaning that there are two full moons in the same month) with a lunar eclipse and a few days ago on the 15th January we had a total solar eclipse and New Moon in Aquarius.
Coinciding with that, political instability seems to be the very important item on the world agenda, with governments grappling with decisions made in the past and transparency becoming the order of the day.
And so an issue that is affecting all of us is the ghostly memory of consequences caused by past mistakes and failures.
It may be worth pondering on which mistakes or failures you have had in your life that holds you back or stops you from trying something new. NOW IS THE TIME TO CHANGE IT!
To honestly look at some of the consequences that we have created through such mistakes and to realise we can be free from it – all we need do is learn and say we are truly sorry! We are only human after all.
I was touched to watch a documentary program about an American prison guard at Guantanamo Bay Detention Camp who decided to get in touch with two ex UK prisoners (released without ever being charged) on Face book. He flew over to the UK to see them and to say he is sorry- sorry what happened and what he did during that time. It was incredible to watch the wonder of the truth being spoken between them and the past becoming undone.
As Anne from the Netherlands reminded me recently:
“If we see life as a maze, every mistake is a not-necessary detour and a waste of time. If life is a labyrinth, every mistake is a part of the way we go and we may learn something from it!”
To see life as a labyrinth and that we are here to learn - what an amazing opportunity!
During this time of intense and accelerated happenings, we can only become more and more conscious of how we all affect the Earth and our world, and so my wish for you during this coming month is expressed by the wishes for 2010 of my friend, Michaela and the short channelling by Tania from Cape Town:

WHALE STORIES
I have two incredible whale stories that I would like to share with you this month. The first was sent to me by my friend Pia Carter who lives in Switzerland and the second one is from Allison Scott from Cape Town about her experience with a whale called Piscasso on the coast of Canada.
What really touches me is that we are all able to do something from the heart with animals and how they respond so incredibly powerfully to any positive action taken by us as humans. It just makes me want to weep with joy and gratitude!
The Whale Said "Thank You"
If you read a recent front page story of the SF Chronicle,you would have read about a female humpback whalethat had become entangled in a spider web of crab traps and lines.She was weighted down by hundreds of pounds of trapsthat caused her to struggle to stay afloat.She also had hundreds of yards of line rope wrapped around her body,her tail, her torso, a line tugging in her mouth.A fisherman spotted her just east of the Farallon Islands (outside the Golden Gate ) and radioed an environmental group for help.Within a few hours, the rescue team arrived and determined that she was so bad off, the only way to save her was to dive in and untangle her.They worked for hours with curved knives and eventually freed her.When she was free, the divers say she swam in what seemed like joyous circles.She then came back to each and every diver, one at a time,and nudged them, pushed them gently around...she was thanking them.Some said it was the most incredibly beautiful experience of their lives.The guy who cut the rope out of her mouth said her eyes werefollowing him the whole time, and he will never be the same.May you, and all those you love, be so blessed and fortunate?to be surrounded by people who will help you get untangled?from the things that are binding you.And, may you always know the joy of giving and receiving gratitude.I pass this on to you, my friends, in the same spirit

“Elizabeth had given me a crystal to throw into the Alaskan waters from the whales in SA to the whales in Canada while I was on an Alaskan cruise in July 2009. I went on a whale watching trip in Juneau Alaska and that was when I threw the crystal into the water. I asked for a sign that it had been received. The attached pics show what happened within 30 secs thereafter (note: the whale PICASSO leaped out of the water and virtually landed onto the boat!). Luckily for me, someone had their camera focussed in the right place. I was still not sure if that was a sign because that is the same behaviour we see in Hermanus (South Africa), but then the Naturalist on the boat said that that was very unusual behaviour in the waters where we were. Then I knew that was a massive sign. The gentleman kindly gave me the pics to give to Elizabeth to remember such a special moment.

THE ROWAN MOON CYCLE OF JANUARYalso called in the Celtic tradition the White Waking Moon and (appropriately for all of you in the Northern Hemisphere who have had so much snow!) the Snow Moon…. The New Moon started on the 16th January (after the dark moon on the 15th January) in the sign of Aquarius and the Full Moon will be on the 30th January in the sign of Leo.
FESTIVALS DURING THIS ROWAN MOON MONTH
The important Wiccan and Druid festival of IMBOLC is celebrated on the 1st February. This festival celebrates fertility and the growing light in the Northern Hemisphere and is dedicated to the Celtic Goddess Brid or Brigit: known as power of the new moon, spring of the year, the flowing sea, Great Moon Mother, patroness of poetry, making and healing. IMBOLC is a time of light emerging from the winter darkness and is celebrated by lighting candles and dancing, telling stories and poetry- by drawing on the inspiration of the dark winter months. Look at what you want to achieve during the year and ask Brid’s help in making this happen. As a tradition, a statue of the goddess Brid was carried down to water on IMBOLC.
St Agnes Day is celebrated in the Christian tradition on 21st January and it is believed that on the eve of St Agnes Day it is a night for dreaming deeply and truly, because St Agnes appeared clearly in a dream to her parents that night after she had been martyred.
25th January is known as the Welsh Valentine’s Day when St Dwynwen, the patron saint of love who consoles unhappy lovers! That day is also traditionally celebrated as Burns Night, the presumed birthday of the great Scottish poet Bobby Burns.
On the 27th January it is the Memorial Day of the Holocaust, remembering the many Jewish people that died in the concentration camps of the Second World War.
On the 30th January is the full moon, celebrated in Northern Tailand and Laos as Maghapuja Full Moon. Prayers are said in processions with lamps, candles or torches with ringing bells and chants. Scarlet cloths are distributed to recall the time when the Buddha gave his monks the rules by which they should live in community.
The 6th February is celebrated as Waitangi Day in New Zealand when in 1840 the treaty of Waitangi was signed as the founding document for the country, supposed to guarantee the Maori rights to their land.
WHAT ARE THE PLANETS UP TO THIS MONTH?
The planet to watch this coming lunar cycle is a particularly bright red Mars. On 29th January, Mars is opposite the sun in the sky and shines brightly all night. On the 30th January the Full Moon passes well to the south of the bright red planet.
The new crescent moon is nearby Jupiter on the 17&18th January. Jupiter shines brightly in the western evening sky after sunset, but by the end of the lunar month it is hard to see in the twilight as it moves around towards the back of the Sun.
Saturn rises in the mid-late evening and shines brightly in the constellation of Virgo. The Moon is nearby on 2nd February.
Venus is out of view on the far side of the Sun, but Mercury is easily visible in the dawn sky if viewed from the Southern Hemisphere. On the 27th January Mercury reaches furthest (24 degrees) from the Sun in the morning sky. Because of the low angle of the ecliptic path of Mercury, it will be hard to see Mercury from the Northern Hemisphere this coming lunar month.

VORTEX MEDITATION TO GROUND
Relax your body and start to focus on your breath- gently breathing in and breathing out- breathing in, and breathing out –
Feel your whole body starting to become more relaxed and open, feeling safe and protected by the light of a bright silver New Moon.
Now become aware of the soles of your feet and imagine sending a silent prayer of blessing to the Earth through your feet.
Feel the feet extending this blessing deep down into the ground until it reaches the very core of the Earth and everything connected to her.
Now start to feel how the Earth responds and starts to send her own blessing to you as you feel the rhythm of her breath coming up through the feet- in and out, in and out –
Slowly feel how the rhythm of your breathing and the rhythm of the Earth begin to synchronise and become connected. And you start to feel that you are moving in unison with the Earth through your feet and through your whole body.
Now imagine seeing or feeling a spark of energy deep within the Earth. Imagine any colour that comes to you- it may be a deep blue or purple, red or green, whatever comes into your mind spontaneously. If you cannot imagine this, just decide to hold the intention of one colour that you like.
Now imagine this energy deep in the Earth expanding and starting to spiral up, as if in a vortex of light and colour.
You can also imagine a beautiful sound- but the sound is so light that you cannot physically hear it- it is just like an intention or picture in your mind.
Feel how the vortex of the Earth energy that is spiralling up starts to surround your body- like an envelope that grows around your feet, up the legs to the knees, then further up to the thighs and up to the hips. Still spiralling up around the wait, up to the torso, the arms, the navel, the breasts, the chest, the shoulders.
Feel the spiralling energy reaching your neck and also become aware of the back of your neck where the spine reaches the skull. Now it is reaching up around the ears, over the eyes, around the head and finally it is totally surrounding your body.
Feel the spin of the energy around your body and as it is moving around you, it is clearing away any old lower frequency energies that no longer serve you.
You may even feel or imagine a gently sizzling around the body of energies being transmuted into balance and grounding.
And imagine that all the energies that are being disconnected and transmuted, fall like compost down to your feet and become nourishing food for the new to grow.
Feel you body become soft and even lighter, and that it has a subtle light green colour- just like a newly planted tree in the springtime.
Now feel the roots of this tree that you are, growing strongly into the Earth and how the Earth is reaching up to receive this new blessing and connection.
Feel your feet expanding - it is as if they are more capable of holding you balanced in this physical world- and so that you can become more fully aware in the present.
Now imagine the most beautiful flowers softly floating down from the silver New Moon- the colours are varied and there are different shaped flowers that keep on raining down on you- giving fragrance to your life and your body as you stand grounded below.
And you can hear the gentle movement of water nearby- the ebbing of the sea, or maybe a waterfall, or a flowing river that is calm and connected to everything around it.
Imagine this water flowing over your feet as it rejuvenates your body and feel how your body becomes whole and relaxed.
Stay in this place of healing for as long as you like- you may even want to look at the rays of the Moon and the stars in the night sky.
And when you are ready to return, bring yourself back to the present, knowing that you have received the blissful healing of Mother Earth, and the healing of the New Moon.
You may want to drink some water and put on some music.
Feel the connection with your soul.

Our trip starts with the new moon (12th June) and we will end the retreat by the time of the full moon (26th June). It is also during the very important earth festival of Winter Solstice in Peru (24th June). This day is celebrated as the Inti Raymi festival held each year at the Inca Fortress of Sacsayhuaman in the Inca capital city of CUSCO- celebrated by the people of the Inca as the Festival of the Sun in honour of the God of the Sun and symbolizes the eternal consecration of marriage between the Sun and human beings. Under the Inca empire the festival lasted 9 days attracting people from all over the Inca Empire and it is now the second largest festival in Latin America with an expected 200 000 people congregating in Cusco!

August is known as the best time to go to Peru because of the weather (it has summer rainfall so in August one is assured that it does not rain and although it is cool at night, the days are sunny and warm). During this time of our trip we will have a full moon (24th August) at the beginning of our trip and a new moon on 8th September (new beginnings) as we return from Peru.

In the wake of the huge earthquake in Haiti that has been described as a massive humanitarian disaster, the question can only be asked: will this earth event that happened so close to the beginning of the year – as happened at the time of the Tsunami – set the tone for some more natural disasters and potential chaotic happenings that will come in 2010?
The choice is ours, really - as always.
Either we take this as a warning that things need to move more rapidly along, or we can wait for things to just stay the same, with us desperately holding onto the comfort zone.
The choice is ours- and what used to take hours, now only takes minutes, what used to take minutes, now only need seconds to change, and so it goes on.
We are caught up in motions of tremendous change and we can only but flow with it and make the decision to create change consciously, or otherwise the change will happen anyway- and with much more serious consequences…
We are in the midst of huge extremes and so it is now all about keeping BALANCE, BALANCE, BALANCE.
What is balance?
It is the ability to stay centred, a bit like being in the centre of the eye of a storm- where everything is moving so fast that destruction can happen in a second, but being safely held within the core of where everything comes from.
This requires the ability to follow the rhythm of the storm- to know where to move to because we are part of it and we are totally connected. It is staying within the protection and guidance of your Hearts- but this is the great heart of the Cosmos- where there is no place for self indulgence, selfishness, security or control.
The new moon started this cycle in the sign of Aquarius- and as we move more and more into the Aquarian age of brother and sisterhood with a more detached and aware way of being, we are evolving to a great level of Love.
Not just love for humanity, but love for all.
This is a time where we start rolling up our sleeves and say what can I do? Why am I here at this time on the planet? What is the greater plan for my life here?
And guess what- it is not about me and it is not about you. It is about us now- together. To help where is a time of need, to reach out to those who have nothing. To make a difference by knowing that wherever and whatever we are, we can always do something.
As much as you love your family, now it is time to think of the greater family- to really take on board that all of life is part of you. Now it is time to stop dreaming and indulging in what you think you can or possibly can’t do. It is time to move away from the personal to the universal where we think big and know we are part of everything.
It is the only way to survive.
The time for personal childishness and the pre-occupation with how we can be secure and comfortable is over. We are asked to be grown up and responsible- and to flow!
I was touched to see children sleeping amongst the dead bodies after the Haiti earthquake. How can we not be called to do something in action? When I watched the untiring diligence of the sniffer dogs amongst the ruins- how can I still agonise about my place in the world? Surely I need to see that my only place here is to help too?
People need us, the animal kingdoms need us, the Earth needs us! Whatever we do is important, it is paving the way to this new world that is happening and we need to take a step forward. Feel it in the heart, because it is already there- like a seed that has been planted and is now ready to grow. Feel the impatience of having had to wait for too long…
Pray for the people of Haiti- find a way of helping your neighbour, send love each day to the Earth – if only for a moment! as you walk on it with your feet. You don’t need to have anything - you just need to open your heart and know that you are playing a vital role in awakening a new consciousness that is based on a new understanding of everything- that we are interconnected, that we are part of the stars, infinity, beyond, whatever you want to call it.
Call it back into your being, breathe the light that is flooding into the planet at this time. This is a time of some somber happenings but also some amazing opportunities to move forward, forgive and let it all be over - it is a time of great change and we are all part of it.
Be with it now.
COSMIC EVENTS HAPPENING
As you have been reading everywhere, we have been going through a powerful process of preparing for this year of 2010.
On 16th December we had an exceptionally powerful new moon, on the 21st December we had the Solstice with the Sun at its zenith/lowest critical point, on the 31st we had a Blue Full Moon (meaning that there are two full moons in the same month) with a lunar eclipse and a few days ago on the 15th January we had a total solar eclipse and New Moon in Aquarius.
Coinciding with that, political instability seems to be the very important item on the world agenda, with governments grappling with decisions made in the past and transparency becoming the order of the day.
And so an issue that is affecting all of us is the ghostly memory of consequences caused by past mistakes and failures.
It may be worth pondering on which mistakes or failures you have had in your life that holds you back or stops you from trying something new. NOW IS THE TIME TO CHANGE IT!
To honestly look at some of the consequences that we have created through such mistakes and to realise we can be free from it – all we need do is learn and say we are truly sorry! We are only human after all.
I was touched to watch a documentary program about an American prison guard at Guantanamo Bay Detention Camp who decided to get in touch with two ex UK prisoners (released without ever being charged) on Face book. He flew over to the UK to see them and to say he is sorry- sorry what happened and what he did during that time. It was incredible to watch the wonder of the truth being spoken between them and the past becoming undone.
As Anne from the Netherlands reminded me recently:
“If we see life as a maze, every mistake is a not-necessary detour and a waste of time. If life is a labyrinth, every mistake is a part of the way we go and we may learn something from it!”
To see life as a labyrinth and that we are here to learn - what an amazing opportunity!
During this time of intense and accelerated happenings, we can only become more and more conscious of how we all affect the Earth and our world, and so my wish for you during this coming month is expressed by the wishes for 2010 of my friend, Michaela and the short channelling by Tania from Cape Town:

WHALE STORIES
I have two incredible whale stories that I would like to share with you this month. The first was sent to me by my friend Pia Carter who lives in Switzerland and the second one is from Allison Scott from Cape Town about her experience with a whale called Piscasso on the coast of Canada.
What really touches me is that we are all able to do something from the heart with animals and how they respond so incredibly powerfully to any positive action taken by us as humans. It just makes me want to weep with joy and gratitude!
The Whale Said "Thank You"
If you read a recent front page story of the SF Chronicle,you would have read about a female humpback whalethat had become entangled in a spider web of crab traps and lines.She was weighted down by hundreds of pounds of trapsthat caused her to struggle to stay afloat.She also had hundreds of yards of line rope wrapped around her body,her tail, her torso, a line tugging in her mouth.A fisherman spotted her just east of the Farallon Islands (outside the Golden Gate ) and radioed an environmental group for help.Within a few hours, the rescue team arrived and determined that she was so bad off, the only way to save her was to dive in and untangle her.They worked for hours with curved knives and eventually freed her.When she was free, the divers say she swam in what seemed like joyous circles.She then came back to each and every diver, one at a time,and nudged them, pushed them gently around...she was thanking them.Some said it was the most incredibly beautiful experience of their lives.The guy who cut the rope out of her mouth said her eyes werefollowing him the whole time, and he will never be the same.May you, and all those you love, be so blessed and fortunate?to be surrounded by people who will help you get untangled?from the things that are binding you.And, may you always know the joy of giving and receiving gratitude.I pass this on to you, my friends, in the same spirit

“Elizabeth had given me a crystal to throw into the Alaskan waters from the whales in SA to the whales in Canada while I was on an Alaskan cruise in July 2009. I went on a whale watching trip in Juneau Alaska and that was when I threw the crystal into the water. I asked for a sign that it had been received. The attached pics show what happened within 30 secs thereafter (note: the whale PICASSO leaped out of the water and virtually landed onto the boat!). Luckily for me, someone had their camera focussed in the right place. I was still not sure if that was a sign because that is the same behaviour we see in Hermanus (South Africa), but then the Naturalist on the boat said that that was very unusual behaviour in the waters where we were. Then I knew that was a massive sign. The gentleman kindly gave me the pics to give to Elizabeth to remember such a special moment.

THE ROWAN MOON CYCLE OF JANUARYalso called in the Celtic tradition the White Waking Moon and (appropriately for all of you in the Northern Hemisphere who have had so much snow!) the Snow Moon…. The New Moon started on the 16th January (after the dark moon on the 15th January) in the sign of Aquarius and the Full Moon will be on the 30th January in the sign of Leo.
FESTIVALS DURING THIS ROWAN MOON MONTH
The important Wiccan and Druid festival of IMBOLC is celebrated on the 1st February. This festival celebrates fertility and the growing light in the Northern Hemisphere and is dedicated to the Celtic Goddess Brid or Brigit: known as power of the new moon, spring of the year, the flowing sea, Great Moon Mother, patroness of poetry, making and healing. IMBOLC is a time of light emerging from the winter darkness and is celebrated by lighting candles and dancing, telling stories and poetry- by drawing on the inspiration of the dark winter months. Look at what you want to achieve during the year and ask Brid’s help in making this happen. As a tradition, a statue of the goddess Brid was carried down to water on IMBOLC.
St Agnes Day is celebrated in the Christian tradition on 21st January and it is believed that on the eve of St Agnes Day it is a night for dreaming deeply and truly, because St Agnes appeared clearly in a dream to her parents that night after she had been martyred.
25th January is known as the Welsh Valentine’s Day when St Dwynwen, the patron saint of love who consoles unhappy lovers! That day is also traditionally celebrated as Burns Night, the presumed birthday of the great Scottish poet Bobby Burns.
On the 27th January it is the Memorial Day of the Holocaust, remembering the many Jewish people that died in the concentration camps of the Second World War.
On the 30th January is the full moon, celebrated in Northern Tailand and Laos as Maghapuja Full Moon. Prayers are said in processions with lamps, candles or torches with ringing bells and chants. Scarlet cloths are distributed to recall the time when the Buddha gave his monks the rules by which they should live in community.
The 6th February is celebrated as Waitangi Day in New Zealand when in 1840 the treaty of Waitangi was signed as the founding document for the country, supposed to guarantee the Maori rights to their land.
WHAT ARE THE PLANETS UP TO THIS MONTH?
The planet to watch this coming lunar cycle is a particularly bright red Mars. On 29th January, Mars is opposite the sun in the sky and shines brightly all night. On the 30th January the Full Moon passes well to the south of the bright red planet.
The new crescent moon is nearby Jupiter on the 17&18th January. Jupiter shines brightly in the western evening sky after sunset, but by the end of the lunar month it is hard to see in the twilight as it moves around towards the back of the Sun.
Saturn rises in the mid-late evening and shines brightly in the constellation of Virgo. The Moon is nearby on 2nd February.
Venus is out of view on the far side of the Sun, but Mercury is easily visible in the dawn sky if viewed from the Southern Hemisphere. On the 27th January Mercury reaches furthest (24 degrees) from the Sun in the morning sky. Because of the low angle of the ecliptic path of Mercury, it will be hard to see Mercury from the Northern Hemisphere this coming lunar month.

VORTEX MEDITATION TO GROUND
Relax your body and start to focus on your breath- gently breathing in and breathing out- breathing in, and breathing out –
Feel your whole body starting to become more relaxed and open, feeling safe and protected by the light of a bright silver New Moon.
Now become aware of the soles of your feet and imagine sending a silent prayer of blessing to the Earth through your feet.
Feel the feet extending this blessing deep down into the ground until it reaches the very core of the Earth and everything connected to her.
Now start to feel how the Earth responds and starts to send her own blessing to you as you feel the rhythm of her breath coming up through the feet- in and out, in and out –
Slowly feel how the rhythm of your breathing and the rhythm of the Earth begin to synchronise and become connected. And you start to feel that you are moving in unison with the Earth through your feet and through your whole body.
Now imagine seeing or feeling a spark of energy deep within the Earth. Imagine any colour that comes to you- it may be a deep blue or purple, red or green, whatever comes into your mind spontaneously. If you cannot imagine this, just decide to hold the intention of one colour that you like.
Now imagine this energy deep in the Earth expanding and starting to spiral up, as if in a vortex of light and colour.
You can also imagine a beautiful sound- but the sound is so light that you cannot physically hear it- it is just like an intention or picture in your mind.
Feel how the vortex of the Earth energy that is spiralling up starts to surround your body- like an envelope that grows around your feet, up the legs to the knees, then further up to the thighs and up to the hips. Still spiralling up around the wait, up to the torso, the arms, the navel, the breasts, the chest, the shoulders.
Feel the spiralling energy reaching your neck and also become aware of the back of your neck where the spine reaches the skull. Now it is reaching up around the ears, over the eyes, around the head and finally it is totally surrounding your body.
Feel the spin of the energy around your body and as it is moving around you, it is clearing away any old lower frequency energies that no longer serve you.
You may even feel or imagine a gently sizzling around the body of energies being transmuted into balance and grounding.
And imagine that all the energies that are being disconnected and transmuted, fall like compost down to your feet and become nourishing food for the new to grow.
Feel you body become soft and even lighter, and that it has a subtle light green colour- just like a newly planted tree in the springtime.
Now feel the roots of this tree that you are, growing strongly into the Earth and how the Earth is reaching up to receive this new blessing and connection.
Feel your feet expanding - it is as if they are more capable of holding you balanced in this physical world- and so that you can become more fully aware in the present.
Now imagine the most beautiful flowers softly floating down from the silver New Moon- the colours are varied and there are different shaped flowers that keep on raining down on you- giving fragrance to your life and your body as you stand grounded below.
And you can hear the gentle movement of water nearby- the ebbing of the sea, or maybe a waterfall, or a flowing river that is calm and connected to everything around it.
Imagine this water flowing over your feet as it rejuvenates your body and feel how your body becomes whole and relaxed.
Stay in this place of healing for as long as you like- you may even want to look at the rays of the Moon and the stars in the night sky.
And when you are ready to return, bring yourself back to the present, knowing that you have received the blissful healing of Mother Earth, and the healing of the New Moon.
You may want to drink some water and put on some music.
Feel the connection with your soul.

Our trip starts with the new moon (12th June) and we will end the retreat by the time of the full moon (26th June). It is also during the very important earth festival of Winter Solstice in Peru (24th June). This day is celebrated as the Inti Raymi festival held each year at the Inca Fortress of Sacsayhuaman in the Inca capital city of CUSCO- celebrated by the people of the Inca as the Festival of the Sun in honour of the God of the Sun and symbolizes the eternal consecration of marriage between the Sun and human beings. Under the Inca empire the festival lasted 9 days attracting people from all over the Inca Empire and it is now the second largest festival in Latin America with an expected 200 000 people congregating in Cusco!
August trip:
August is known as the best time to go to Peru because of the weather (it has summer rainfall so in August one is assured that it does not rain and although it is cool at night, the days are sunny and warm). During this time of our trip we will have a full moon (24th August) at the beginning of our trip and a new moon on 8th September (new beginnings) as we return from Peru.

The Sacred Valley of Machu Picchu PERU holds some of the most feminine and important energies for our planet. It has a simplicity and gentleness of the Heart that one cannot truly understand - until one has been there.
This amazing feeling of peace and connection to the Cosmic Heart comes from an ancient heritage born in Peru where the indigenous people have always understood and communicated with the more subtle energies of Mother Nature. Being in tune with these cosmic energies of Pachamama - as they affectionately call her - they have always treated the Earth as a living energetic being that creates life for them and their children.
But even more than that. Peru has the wonder of Machu Picchu.
Many are intrigued about why so many people are drawn to visit the lost city of Machu Picchu at this time in our world.
Built as a place that is literally “above the clouds,” it is said that its purpose was to commune with the gods from above, a sacred place where humans and the cosmic gods of Nature could safely meet without any interference.
The concept of building a city of the size and magnitude of Machu Picchu even now seems ridiculous. Yet this was done painstakingly and with the most incredible amount of patience and aptitude. The people of Machu Picchu knew what they were doing- they had a master plan that was so brilliantly conceived that we now need to find the same to build and create our own safe and sustainable world for the future!
When you look at Machu Picchu, its ultimate genius is that of working with the hazards of water. High up on the top of a mountain, dealing safely with the force of the elements and most importantly rain, had to be a priority. And so structures were conceived and taken from ancient civilisations of the past that made sure that there was incredible security in the face of heavy cloud bursts, earth quakes, torrential rain- for this was after all a place of the Gods and with it came the raw elemental forces of nature! And so even today you will never see a puddle of water at Machu Picchu- it has incredible drainage, and a system of conducting water that ensures that these channels of water still function and create safety with water to this day. Stones were built in an inherent pyramid structure using bedrock and so the entire city is still standing in very much the way it was built - after hundreds and hundreds of years in the most daunting of locations.
In a modern world where the focus and a more cosmic awareness of water is becoming so very important: its preservation for the future and also the real risk of floodings that have been happening all over the world; small islands disappearing into the sea and landmasses shrinking at an alarming rate that is not often enough spoken about even in the media: Machu Picchu holds a vital key to our future.
And this unique ability to work with water at Machu Picchu extends to elsewhere in the Sacred Valley below. Everywhere you look there is water! Waterfalls cascading down from the pure white snow on the magestic Andes Mountains, the gentle hum of the waters of the mighty Urubamba River that winds its way through the Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu, the ancient INCA waterways that are still functional and used by the local people on their farms and in the small villages – it does not matter - wherever you look there is water!
And with the water comes the most beautiful natural landscape, magestic peaks of mountains and fields filled with fresh produce and a busy cultivation of the land.

What makes this journey so special?
Please note this is not a tourist journey. Most tour operators do two or more sites and villages in a day which leaves very little time than just to have a walk around and take some photographs. On this trip you will see the most important sites and areas related to the Machu Picchu Sacred Valley, but you will more importantly also be able to be quiet and experience the special atmosphere of each place at times that are most beneficial. You can only feel the profound effect of a sacred place when you are able to go within, be still and become more than an ordinary tourist. Such an experience can have a life changing effect on you.
Preparation is done before we visit a site so that you are able to energetically tune into the site with a positive intention and it is not uncommon for participants to have past life memories surface that help to awaken them spiritually.
After each visit to a sacred place, we will have the opportunity to share our experiences as a group and also work with integrating these gifts we receive from the special places we visit so as to make it a spiritual journey in the true sense of the word.
We will also be learning how to work with our awareness of the cosmic unseen forces of nature and so be able to tune into the energy worlds of Peru that the South American shamans are so famous for!
For those of you who are interested, we will also be visiting a charity for homeless and abused women and children while we are in Peru. Participants are encouraged to go with an intention to enjoy the trip, but also contribute something to the Earth, Peru, the local people and the animals. This is part of living from the Heart!
Please note that nothing on the scheduled programme is compulsory- it there to help and assist you to have a spiritual experience of Peru, but it is up to you as to how and when you want to join in. Having said that, I would encourage you to do take part in as much as you can, because very often it is by taking yourself out of your comfort zone that magic happens!

Why should I not do the INCA TRAIL instead?
The INCA trail is very famous and with reason because of Peru’s beautiful nature! But you need to think about it carefully and find out what exactly is your intention to travel. If you are an avid and very enthusiastic walker who enjoys nature but really don’t want to experience much more than the scenic part of Peru, then I would definitely say doing the Trail is for you. Make sure you are very fit, especially if you don’t live at high altitude. Peru takes a different fitness because of the high mountains you climb on the trail and also if it is in winter it is freezing in the tents offered on the trails.
The train journey we take to Machu Picchu Pueblo follows the path of the Inca trail along the Urubamba river so you will have definitely see some of the amazing views of the trail on our journey there.
Very importantly, the INCA trail packages only take you a short visit to Machu Picchu – normally a morning/afternoon and by the time you get there you are exhausted and not often in the mood for climbing a lot of steps and exploring! The trail is therefore not going to give anything but a rushed and tourist experience (with the usual tour guide) of Machu Picchu - a missed opportunity to be at one of the most famous Sacred Sites in the world.
I am interested in ancient civilisations and nature and so the retreat trip is structured to give you both- to experience and get the benefit of tuning into nature on a different level as those ancient civilisations did through meditation and ceremony, and still see and walk a lot in nature. You can also do additional hiking on the trip if you want to- the retreat caters for people with ages from 30-70 and so ,for example, if we go and see one of the ruins in the area, you have an option of hiking down a trail instead of catching the bus back to where we are staying. And you are able to climb the famous Huyna Picchu peak at Machu Picchu if you feel up to it.
Most people see themselves as beyond camping and therefore the trip is planned with the luxury of a clean and warm bed!
The prices of the Trail (usually 3-5 days) vary but many have found that when they add on all the extras of accommodation, transport and meals etc outside the trail, it is not really such a cheap option as they originally thought. But see what works for you!
What do I need to know about food?
All breakfasts are included in the retreat. It is normally a simple continental breakfast with fresh fruit juice, fruit, bread and coffee/tea. Occasionally it also has some added extras such as cheese, cereal etc.
Lunch and supper are not included in the overall costing of the retreat. This is to keep the cost of the trip flexible and make it easy for each person individually to decide what they would like to eat and also how much they want to spend on food. For some people it is a priority, whereas others they would prefer to have more simple meals and spend their money on buying souveniers etc. So instead of prepaying for meals you may not like or want to have, you have the choice and you will be given ample suggestions as to where to find good local food on our visit. Most of the food in the Sacred Valley is fresh and grown locally with fantastic salads and products such as quinoa soup etc. You can also try the local meat varieties such as Alpacha. There are a range of types of food available (from fast food to traditional) and also in terms of budget. - so from experience over the years with groups, making your own choice is best and keeps it simple and enjoyable! You are able to experiment with the type of restaurants and even if on occasion don’t feel like eating out in a restaurant,, some of the accommodation offer facilities for preparing your own meal from fresh produce in the local markets. This can be an interesting, authentic and enjoyable aspect of your visit to Peru.
Budget on about $10-20 as an average cost per day for meals and eating out.
Currencies
The local currency in Peru is SOLES and there are about 2.8 SOLES to 1 US DOLLAR.
What is the accommodation like?
The Sacred Valley is not an area where you will find 5 star luxury hotels easily and as the SACRED EARTH RETREATS are planned to make it affordable to most people on a budget (without having to do camping or backpacking!), the rooms are simple but still enjoyable and in tune with the general atmosphere of Peru. Most accommodation establishments that call themselves hotels or hostals are really simple hotels that provide fair and basic accommodation. The accommodation chosen on this trip is clean, has an interesting and scenic aspect to it and also hot water- not a given even in some of the more expensive hostals! Be prepared to have your basic needs met, but nothing luxurious. Accommodation in Peru countryside vary quite a lot and so it is important to know through experience which ones offer what they say on the internet!
How do we travel?
We travel as a group together in an air conditioned micro bus for most of the way. It is only possible to go to Machu Picchu Pueblo (the village just below Machu Picchu) by train and so we will be catching a train on our way there.

There are different options regarding the type of tickets that are available depending on what you want to do in Peru, but all entrance tickets are included in the price of the trip so you don’t need to worry about which ones are best suited to your needs and are the most economical.
What do I need to know about weather?
June and August are winter months, and it can be cool in the evenings. We will not be camping so you don’t need to worry about very warm clothes and also there will be no rain because it is the dry season especially in August. When packing it is best to bring layers that you can put on and take off. You will be given more information about what to pack etc closer to the trip.
Machu Picchu is high altitude but part of the Cloud forest, so the weather is mild, but you will need sun hats and sunscreen for the Inca Sun!
Do I have to worry about altitude sickness?
It is an important aspect to think about and to do some preparation for before the trip.
If you have a history of strokes or very high blood pressure you will not be able to take the high altitude pills that you can take if you are in fact not able to cope with the altitude when you are in Peru. There are certain simple procedures that can be followed to help you adjust and it is advisable for you to arrive a day or two before the retreat starts, to make sure that you are rested and over any side effects of having to adjust to the high altitude of Peru. Cusco the main capital is the highest altitude you will be at and since that is at the beginning of the trip, it is important to rest the day you arrive and if possible even sleep! Machu Picchu is lower than Cusco so once you have adjusted to the altitude in Cusco you will be fine for the rest of the trip.
Altitude sickness is unpredictable and although it will be good for you to become fit and trim before the trip, it does not necessarily mean you will not be affected. Often it affects younger and more fit persons more than if you are older and not so fit!
On some level the altitude is symbolic of ascending also in your body and so at the end of the trip you will find that not only are you emotionally and mentally a lot sharper, your body will also be more efficient because it has learnt to use oxygen more efficiently. In all the years that I have taken groups to Peru (over three years now at least 2/3 times per year) I have not had anyone who has had serious complications, although often I have made sure that people stay in bed the first day they arrive and just sleep because of the first symptoms they have of altitude sickness.
Also, many people complain about having stomach upsets in Peru because of the different conditions with water. It is recommended that you only drink bottled water and there are other measures that you can take to make sure you get over any complaint quickly. Very often it is a way for the body to detox, but it need not ruin your trip and also when you are with a group you have the comfort of knowing that you are supported and that if you need any medical attention is easy to find for you.
What is the Ayahuaska/San pedro ceremony with a Peruvian Shaman?
Some of you may have read about these on the internet, and there are many different accounts of the working of these sacred healing plants that have been used by the Peruvian and South American shamans for thousands of years.
It is a completely safe experience and I only use a very skilled and trustworthy shaman that works from the Heart and is able to lead the ceremony for the group. I have done these ceremonies many times and cannot begin to explain the positive benefits it has had in my life. However, one has to be ready for the experience and so it is done at the end of our trip when you will have had a lot of time to prepare energetically for a shamanic journey with the plant.
Please let me know if you need more information about this and you don’t need to decide before the trip if you want to do the ceremony. You can decide when we are in Peru and you will have an opportunity to discuss any questions and concerns with the shaman.
International and local flights
In order to get to Cusco (the ancient capital of the INCAS where the trip starts) you need to first fly to the international airport of Peru in LIMA(the capital) and then you catch a short flight of about 45 minutes to CUSCO inland. Most flights between LIMA and CUSCO leave very early morning(from about 4am!) until about mid afternoon. Then there are no more flights available, so you need to check how your international flight connects from LIMA. If you fly, for example, from South Africa, you can catch a flight with MALAYSIAN airlines( it flies via Johannesburg and then Cape Town)- or SAA from Johannesburg- to BUENOS AIRES and then there is a connecting flight from BUENOS AIRES to LIMA. That arrives late at night in Lima so it will be necessary to stay over in Lima one night and catch a domestic flight from Lima to Cusco the next morning. Likewise if you fly back, the international flight from Lima to Buenos Aires leaves in the morning so you need to be in Lima the night before because you will not be able to fly from Cusco in time to catch that international flight from Lima to Buenos Aires.
For those of you who fly from the UK or elsewhere in Europe or the Middle East, it is advisable to fly via Madrid and if via New York please give yourself a lot of time for the connection from New York to Lima. New York has a reputation for huge delays through customs.

The Sacred Valley of Machu Picchu PERU holds some of the most feminine and important energies for our planet. It has a simplicity and gentleness of the Heart that one cannot truly understand - until one has been there.

Many are intrigued about why so many people are drawn to visit the lost city of Machu Picchu at this time in our world.
Built as a place that is literally “above the clouds,” it is said that its purpose was to commune with the gods from above, a sacred place where humans and the cosmic gods of Nature could safely meet without any interference.
The concept of building a city of the size and magnitude of Machu Picchu even now seems ridiculous. Yet this was done painstakingly and with the most incredible amount of patience and aptitude. The people of Machu Picchu knew what they were doing- they had a master plan that was so brilliantly conceived that we now need to find the same to build and create our own safe and sustainable world for the future!
When you look at Machu Picchu, its ultimate genius is that of working with the hazards of water. High up on the top of a mountain, dealing safely with the force of the elements and most importantly rain, had to be a priority. And so structures were conceived and taken from ancient civilisations of the past that made sure that there was incredible security in the face of heavy cloud bursts, earth quakes, torrential rain- for this was after all a place of the Gods and with it came the raw elemental forces of nature! And so even today you will never see a puddle of water at Machu Picchu- it has incredible drainage, and a system of conducting water that ensures that these channels of water still function and create safety with water to this day. Stones were built in an inherent pyramid structure using bedrock and so the entire city is still standing in very much the way it was built - after hundreds and hundreds of years in the most daunting of locations.
In a modern world where the focus and a more cosmic awareness of water is becoming so very important: its preservation for the future and also the real risk of floodings that have been happening all over the world; small islands disappearing into the sea and landmasses shrinking at an alarming rate that is not often enough spoken about even in the media: Machu Picchu holds a vital key to our future.
And this unique ability to work with water at Machu Picchu extends to elsewhere in the Sacred Valley below. Everywhere you look there is water! Waterfalls cascading down from the pure white snow on the magestic Andes Mountains, the gentle hum of the waters of the mighty Urubamba River that winds its way through the Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu, the ancient INCA waterways that are still functional and used by the local people on their farms and in the small villages – it does not matter - wherever you look there is water!

What makes this journey so special?
Please note this is not a tourist journey. Most tour operators do two or more sites and villages in a day which leaves very little time than just to have a walk around and take some photographs. On this trip you will see the most important sites and areas related to the Machu Picchu Sacred Valley, but you will more importantly also be able to be quiet and experience the special atmosphere of each place at times that are most beneficial. You can only feel the profound effect of a sacred place when you are able to go within, be still and become more than an ordinary tourist. Such an experience can have a life changing effect on you.
Preparation is done before we visit a site so that you are able to energetically tune into the site with a positive intention and it is not uncommon for participants to have past life memories surface that help to awaken them spiritually.
After each visit to a sacred place, we will have the opportunity to share our experiences as a group and also work with integrating these gifts we receive from the special places we visit so as to make it a spiritual journey in the true sense of the word.
We will also be learning how to work with our awareness of the cosmic unseen forces of nature and so be able to tune into the energy worlds of Peru that the South American shamans are so famous for!
For those of you who are interested, we will also be visiting a charity for homeless and abused women and children while we are in Peru. Participants are encouraged to go with an intention to enjoy the trip, but also contribute something to the Earth, Peru, the local people and the animals. This is part of living from the Heart!
Please note that nothing on the scheduled programme is compulsory- it there to help and assist you to have a spiritual experience of Peru, but it is up to you as to how and when you want to join in. Having said that, I would encourage you to do take part in as much as you can, because very often it is by taking yourself out of your comfort zone that magic happens!
What is so special about the trips in 2010?
The dates chosen above are given to me under guidance to make sure that the trip will happen at the most auspicious and spiritually awakening times of that year and be most beneficial for the group and the planet. The two trips scheduled for 2010 have these special features:
June trip:
Our trip starts with the new moon (12th June) and we will end the retreat by the time of the full moon (26th June). It is also during the very important earth festival of Winter Solstice in Peru (24th June). This day is celebrated as the Inti Raymi festival held each year at the Inca Fortress of Sacsayhuaman in the Inca capital city of CUSCO- celebrated by the people of the Inca as the Festival of the Sun in honour of the God of the Sun and symbolizes the eternal consecration of marriage between the Sun and human beings. Under the Inca empire the festival lasted 9 days attracting people from all over the Inca Empire and it is now the second largest festival in Latin America with an expected 200 000 people congregating in Cusco!
August trip:
August is known as the best time to go to Peru because of the weather (it has summer rainfall so in August one is assured that it does not rain and although it is cool at night, the days are sunny and warm). During this time of our trip we will have a full moon (24th August) at the beginning of our trip and a new moon on 8th September (new beginnings) as we return from Peru.
Why should I not do the INCA TRAIL instead?
The INCA trail is very famous and with reason because of Peru’s beautiful nature! But you need to think about it carefully and find out what exactly is your intention to travel. If you are an avid and very enthusiastic walker who enjoys nature but really don’t want to experience much more than the scenic part of Peru, then I would definitely say doing the Trail is for you. Make sure you are very fit, especially if you don’t live at high altitude. Peru takes a different fitness because of the high mountains you climb on the trail and also if it is in winter it is freezing in the tents offered on the trails.
The train journey we take to Machu Picchu Pueblo follows the path of the Inca trail along the Urubamba river so you will have definitely see some of the amazing views of the trail on our journey there.
Very importantly, the INCA trail packages only take you a short visit to Machu Picchu – normally a morning/afternoon and by the time you get there you are exhausted and not often in the mood for climbing a lot of steps and exploring! The trail is therefore not going to give anything but a rushed and tourist experience (with the usual tour guide) of Machu Picchu - a missed opportunity to be at one of the most famous Sacred Sites in the world.
I am interested in ancient civilisations and nature and so the retreat trip is structured to give you both- to experience and get the benefit of tuning into nature on a different level as those ancient civilisations did through meditation and ceremony, and still see and walk a lot in nature. You can also do additional hiking on the trip if you want to- the retreat caters for people with ages from 30-70 and so ,for example, if we go and see one of the ruins in the area, you have an option of hiking down a trail instead of catching the bus back to where we are staying. And you are able to climb the famous Huyna Picchu peak at Machu Picchu if you feel up to it.
Most people see themselves as beyond camping and therefore the trip is planned with the luxury of a clean and warm bed!
The prices of the Trail (usually 3-5 days) vary but many have found that when they add on all the extras of accommodation, transport and meals etc outside the trail, it is not really such a cheap option as they originally thought. But see what works for you!
What do I need to know about food?
All breakfasts are included in the retreat. It is normally a simple continental breakfast with fresh fruit juice, fruit, bread and coffee/tea. Occasionally it also has some added extras such as cheese, cereal etc.
Lunch and supper are not included in the overall costing of the retreat. This is to keep the cost of the trip flexible and make it easy for each person individually to decide what they would like to eat and also how much they want to spend on food. For some people it is a priority, whereas others they would prefer to have more simple meals and spend their money on buying souveniers etc. So instead of prepaying for meals you may not like or want to have, you have the choice and you will be given ample suggestions as to where to find good local food on our visit. Most of the food in the Sacred Valley is fresh and grown locally with fantastic salads and products such as quinoa soup etc. You can also try the local meat varieties such as Alpacha. There are a range of types of food available (from fast food to traditional) and also in terms of budget. - so from experience over the years with groups, making your own choice is best and keeps it simple and enjoyable! You are able to experiment with the type of restaurants and even if on occasion don’t feel like eating out in a restaurant,, some of the accommodation offer facilities for preparing your own meal from fresh produce in the local markets. This can be an interesting, authentic and enjoyable aspect of your visit to Peru.
Budget on about $10-20 as an average cost per day for meals and eating out.

The Sacred Valley is not an area where you will find 5 star luxury hotels easily and as the SACRED EARTH RETREATS are planned to make it affordable to most people on a budget (without having to do camping or backpacking!), the rooms are simple but still enjoyable and in tune with the general atmosphere of Peru. Most accommodation establishments that call themselves hotels or hostals are really simple hotels that provide fair and basic accommodation. The accommodation chosen on this trip is clean, has an interesting and scenic aspect to it and also hot water- not a given even in some of the more expensive hostals! Be prepared to have your basic needs met, but nothing luxurious. However, one has to be ready for the experience and so it is done at the end of our trip when you will have had a lot of time to prepare energetically for a shamanic journey with the plant.

International and local flights
In order to get to Cusco (the ancient capital of the INCAS where the trip starts) you need to first fly to the international airport of Peru in LIMA(the capital) and then you catch a short flight of about 45 minutes to CUSCO inland. Most flights between LIMA and CUSCO leave very early morning(from about 4am!) until about mid afternoon. Then there are no more flights available, so you need to check how your international flight connects from LIMA. If you fly, for example, from South Africa, you can catch a flight with MALAYSIAN airlines( it flies via Johannesburg and then Cape Town)- or SAA from Johannesburg- to BUENOS AIRES and then there is a connecting flight from BUENOS AIRES to LIMA. That arrives late at night in Lima so it will be necessary to stay over in Lima one night and catch a domestic flight from Lima to Cusco the next morning. Likewise if you fly back, the international flight from Lima to Buenos Aires leaves in the morning so you need to be in Lima the night before because you will not be able to fly from Cusco in time to catch that international flight from Lima to Buenos Aires.
For those of you who fly from the UK or elsewhere in Europe or the Middle East, it is advisable to fly via Madrid and if via New York please give yourself a lot of time for the connection from New York to Lima. New York has a reputation for huge delays through customs.
