CHANGE
The Moon is the most dominant symbol of change in our lives. It is forever changing its shape, yet we know that it will always return to the same process of creation after each approximately 28 days. Like a huge reminder in the sky, she reassures us that change is not only inevitable, but also good and normal - and that we can trust that process even though it often feels like chaos when we are going though some enormous change.
She shows us that we are part of a higher order that we can only understand once we have gone through the change - and that is how we evolve and become more fully - ourselves.
THE PROCESS OF CHANGE IS HARD FOR US AS HUMAN BEINGS
Although we may intellectually understand the nature of change and sometimes even try to welcome it, it is still incredibly challenging for our human side to flow with change. There is always the uncertainty that comes with change, and to see and experience the destruction of what we know, is unsettling and often scary. And it is very easy to get hooked into fear about the future.
Because the body does not like change, it feels uncomfortable and that puts it on guard- in case it needs new ways of coping to survive. Because survival is always a prime concern.
And so we devise all kinds of ways to try and stop or avoid it: change. Which is of course futile! But at least it makes us feel better in the moment.
THERE IS ANOTHER WAY
But we are learning that there are many ways to overcome this. That we need not be locked into fear- in a primal response that comes from the body.
And this is- as all the ancient civilisations including the Mayans say- to do with raising our consciousness. Through being aware of this conditioned response we have and placing our active awareness on it, it immediately starts to change!
Because even fear is not exempt from change- it can change!
ACTIVE HIGHER AWARENESS
The evolved civilisations of the past were really just like us. But they had an incredible advantage- they knew a way to consciously use their higher mind to cope with change – by understanding its nature and by patiently waiting to transform the lower frequency of fear into an active higher awareness of what truly is.
This higher awareness is that all fear is illusion and that we are eternal beings. Just like the ocean with its ever changing waves. This higher awareness is that within so-called chaos there is divine order. This higher understanding is that there are no mistakes in the universe. This higher understanding is that we are able to co-create our own reality in every moment through our thoughts and emotions and that the quality of that alone will determine how we ride the waves of change.
THE CHANGES OF 2012
We are about the experience very fundamental planetary forces in 2012 that will have far reaching effects of change. The most notable at the moment: a partial sun eclipse on 20/21 May 2012 followed by a partial Moon eclipse on 4th June and a very rare Venus eclipse on the 6th of June.
All of these will play a crucial role in manifesting a new world of peace and power for the future- provided we flow with it!
Actively encouraging change is a new concept to us. It seems like anarchy. But that is exactly what is needed. If we anticipate change, we can direct it. We can feel in some way part of it instead of feeling like helpless victims.
ECLIPSES
Solar eclipses have always been feared in ancient civilisations. Because they truly understood the power of it.
It may take some time for things to show up afterwards, but it is such a radical process in the way it affects the Earth, that it can only be compared to a slate being wiped completely clean. EVERYTHING IN ITS PATH HAS TO GO.
Yet this also creates new opportunities for growth. It is always interesting to see where the path of the eclipse goes through, because those parts are the areas of the Earth most affected by it- also on a spiritual level. This time it is Japan that will receive a lot of new input and healing- very fitting after the tragic devastation of last year. New consciousness will be seeded for the planet to remove old programs of suffering and fear created notably also by the nuclear bombs of the Second World War.
This will be followed by the partial Moon Eclipse- paving the way for a higher level of emotional concern for the Earth, ourselves and also others- the rare Venus eclipse on 6th June. Venus is the planet of beauty, harmony and justice - of Love that is a higher form of consciousness. The Venus eclipse will be the only one this century – so worth focusing on as part of our ever changing landscape in 2012!
THE POWER WITHIN
Change is scary, there is no doubt about it. The outcomes are uncertain. But if we become conscious – by knowing ourselves and the power we have to direct ourselves - our thoughts, our emotions, our actions and the way we deal with whatever comes - we can only be victorious.
The power is within.

“Welcome change in life. You do not have to resist change. Changes could be old hat for you by now, for life on Earth is filled with change.
Sometimes in your life, it is as if you get on a horse, and then you rein in the horse so he stands still. You don't get very far that way, so I say again, welcome change in life. Welcome the changes you want, and welcome the changes you don't want. Be neutral to change. Sometimes change comes in disguise. Remember this: despite your opinion about change, despite your appraisal that some changes are good and others are not, all change furthers your growth. Every change brings you closer to Vastness.
In any case, whatever the change, favoured or unfavoured, you might as well go along with it. If your car broke down, it broke down. What is the point in bewailing it? If the stock market goes down, what is your kicking and screaming going to do about it? You don't want change, and yet you are determined to change what has changed back to what it was, and, so, you would like to change change.
If you lose your house, there is something good in that for you. Then you are free to move along without possessions. If you lose your job, you are freed from it. If a love leaves, you have a great opportunity to grow. Whatever changes life holds for you, you find yourself on a new plateau. You simply can't stay on the old one.
Believe it, the best is yet to come. Growth is on its way. Welcome it.
If, in human terms, you have lost your youth, you may say what is good about that? You lost your looks, and you no longer hold the importance you once did, or seemed to. The key word here is "seemed to." You thought you were on top of the world in your youth, yet were you? And if you think you have sunk into oblivion, have you? Have you really? And if you have really, there is a great opportunity here too. Every change in life affords its own blessings. Every change provides you with an opportunity to expand your thinking. And expand your thinking, you must.
Why? Because to further your life, your thoughts need to move along. Your thoughts have to find a grander horizon. Your thoughts cannot stay the same. You have to keep up with life. You are a human being who grows through twists and turns whether you want to or not.
Doors are opening for you, beloveds. Do you really want to close them and close life out?
You are not to wait to love life. Love life now. Love life as it is. Love life rain or shine. Life is a splendid opportunity. There is none like it. Divest yourself of attachment to how things used to be. Welcome life as it finds
its way to you. Partner with life. Do not obstruct it.
Life is not about fighting it. Life is not meant to be a discussion of pros and cons. Life is meant to be lived. You cannot learn your lines ahead of time.
Tides of the ocean rush to the shore, and they leave the shore. There is always another wave, and another, and another.
It is not for you to discipline the Universe. Every change, no matter how alien to you, serves you. No matter how hard a change is for you to accept, no matter how much a change seems like a loss to you, it is a gain. The tide of change has lapped you closer to shore. It may not be the shore you had in mind, and yet it brings you closer to your desires. With or without your consent, room has been made for you. And now you go forward like a fish in the sea weaving through the water.

WHAT ARE THE SUN, MOON AND PLANETS UP TO AT THE MOMENT?
1. SOLAR FLARES
What is a solar flare?
A solar flare is an explosion on the Sun that happens when energy stored in twisted magnetic fields (usually above sunspots) is suddenly released. Flares produce a burst of radiation across the electromagnetic spectrum, from radio waves to x-rays and gamma-rays.
Scientists classify solar flares according to their x-ray brightness in the wavelength range 1 to 8 Angstroms. There are 3 categories: X-class flares are big; they are major events that can trigger planet-wide radio blackouts and long-lasting radiation storms. M-class flares are medium-sized; they can cause brief radio blackouts that affect Earth's polar regions. Minor radiation storms sometimes follow an M-class flare. Compared to X- and M-class events, C-class flares are small with few noticeable consequences here on Earth. (http://spaceweather.com/)
The effect of solar flares
“… increased solar activity can have effects on human health and behaviour, leading to increased violence, homicide, suicide, heart attacks, strokes, depression, fatigue and irritability. This all has been documented in scientific literature (for more details: www.glcoherence.org/monitoring-system/commentaries.html). Not only was there research showing that individuals are affected, but also that solar activity seems to drive an increase in social unrest, revolutions and wars. This was first discovered by the Russian scientist Tchijevsky in 1916. Interestingly, during the current Solar Cycle 24, social unrest has increased. The Occupy movement started in the USA then spread to many countries throughout the world. Social unrest that toppled regimes in Tunisia, Libya and Egypt happened in a relatively short time period.
However, it’s important to remember that increased solar activity can have a positive impact as well. Suitbert Ertel, a German professor, found an increase in human creativity in art, science and architecture during periods of increased solar energy.
While an increasing influx of solar energy will continue to impact us during 2012, it is each individual’s choice and responsibility to establish balance within oneself. 2. SUN ECLIPSE – 20/21 MAY 2012
As seen from the Earth, a solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth, and the Moon fully or partially blocks out the Sun. This can happen only during a new moon, when the Sun and the Moon are in conjunction as seen from Earth. In a total eclipse, the disk of the Sun is fully obscured by the Moon. In partial and annular eclipses only part of the Sun is obscured.
There is a full eclipse later on the year on 13 November, but on 20/21 May 2012, an annular eclipse of the Sun is visible from within a narrow corridor that traverses Earth's northern Hemisphere. The path of the Moon's antumbral shadow begins in eastern Asia and crosses the North Pacific Ocean where it ends in the western United States. The shadow produces a partial eclipse visible from a much larger region covering East Asia, North Pacific, North America and Greenland.
The eclipse will be visible from a 240 to 300 kilometre-wide track that begins in southern China at 22:06 UT. Travelling eastward, the shadow quickly sweeps along the southern coast of Japan as the central line duration of annularity grows from 4.4 to 5.0 minutes.
Tokyo lies 10 kilometres north of the central line. For the over 10 million residents within the metropolitan area, the annular phase will last 5 minutes beginning at 22:32 UT (on May 21 local time). Travelling with a velocity of 1.1 kilometres/second, the antumbral shadow leaves Japan and heads northeast across the Northern Pacific. The instant of greatest eclipse occurs at 23:52:47 UT when the eclipse magnitude reaches 0.9439. At that instant, the duration of annularity is 5 minutes 46 seconds, the path width is 237 kilometres.
The shadow passes just south of Alaska's Aleutian Islands as the central track slowly curves to the southeast. After a 7000 kilometre-long ocean voyage lasting nearly 2 hours, the antumbra finally reaches land again along the rugged coastlines of southern Oregon and northern California at 01:23 UT (May 20 local time).
It travels further across and by the time the antumbra reaches Albuquerque, NM (01:34 UT), the central duration is still 4 1/2 minutes. As its leading edge reaches the Texas Panhandle, the shadow is now an elongated ellipse extending all the way to Nevada. Seconds later, the antumbra begins its rise back into space above western Texas as the track and the annular eclipse end.

3. PARTIAL MOON ECLIPSE 4 JUNE 2012
The Moon is partially blocked out in the sky by the Earth. Observers in western Canada and the USA will have the best views, with moonset occurring sometime after mid-eclipse. To catch the entire event, one must be located in the Pacific or eastern Australia.
4. VENUS ECLIPSE – 5 & 6th JUNE 2012
In its course around the Sun, the planet Venus overtakes the Earth every 1.6 years. It then passes between Earth and the Sun. But not on every occasion the planet is seen passing exactly in front of the Sun. Because the orbit of Venus is slightly tilted, the planet usually passes above or below the solar disk when it overtakes Earth. Very rarely we are granted to see Venus projected unto the Sun as a small, black silhouette. This so-called transit of Venus will happen on 5 and 6 June 2012 for the very last time this century - it will be your grandchildren who will watch the next one!
Venus is about the same size as the Earth, but even though the planet is nearest to Earth at the time of a transit, it still looks very small at that distance. During the transit, Venus can be seen from Earth as a small black disk moving across the face of the Sun. It takes about 6 hours for the planet to move from the left side of the Sun (ingress) to the right side (egress).
Where and when to be to observe the transit of Venus
The transit of Venus lasts for about 6 hours on Tuesday 5 June and Wednesday 6 June. When you’re living in North America, you will see the first part of the transit before sunset on 5th June. European observers will see the last part of the transit after sunrise on 6 June. If you are in the Pacific, East Asia and above the Arctic Circle, you can see the transit in its entirety.

PYRAMIDS OF GLASS? TRUTH OR FICTION?
Pyramids of glass found in the Bermuda Triangle

These strange underwater pyramid structures at a depth of two thousand meters were identified with the help of a sonar according to oceanographer Dr. Verlag Meyer. Studies of other structures like Yonaguni in modern day Japan have allowed scientists to determine that the two giant pyramids, apparently made of something like a thick glass, are really impressive - each of them is larger than the pyramid of Cheops in Egypt.
Recently American and French scientists as well as other countries that are conducting surveys in areas of the seabed of the Bermuda Triangle, claim to have found a pyramid standing upright on the seabed that has never been discovered. The length of the base of this pyramid reached 300 meters, 200 meters height, and distance from base to the tip of the pyramid is about 100 meters above the sea floor. Preliminary results show this structure to be made of glass or a glass-like (crystal?) material, as it is entirely smooth and partially translucent.
When talking about size, this newly re-discovered pyramid is larger in scale than the pyramids of ancient Egypt. On top of the pyramid there are two very large holes, sea water at high speed move through the second hole, and therefore the raging waves roll by forming a giant vortex that makes the waters around this cause a massive surge waves and mist on the sea surface. This new discovery makes scientists wonder if this is having an affect on passing boats and planes and could be the reason for all the mystery surrounding the area.

WHAT ARE THE SUN, MOON AND PLANETS UP TO AT THE MOMENT?
1. SOLAR FLARES
What is a solar flare?
A solar flare is an explosion on the Sun that happens when energy stored in twisted magnetic fields (usually above sunspots) is suddenly released. Flares produce a burst of radiation across the electromagnetic spectrum, from radio waves to x-rays and gamma-rays.
Scientists classify solar flares according to their x-ray brightness in the wavelength range 1 to 8 Angstroms. There are 3 categories: X-class flares are big; they are major events that can trigger planet-wide radio blackouts and long-lasting radiation storms. M-class flares are medium-sized; they can cause brief radio blackouts that affect Earth's polar regions. Minor radiation storms sometimes follow an M-class flare. Compared to X- and M-class events, C-class flares are small with few noticeable consequences here on Earth. (http://spaceweather.com/)
The effect of solar flares
“… increased solar activity can have effects on human health and behaviour, leading to increased violence, homicide, suicide, heart attacks, strokes, depression, fatigue and irritability. This all has been documented in scientific literature (for more details: www.glcoherence.org/monitoring-system/commentaries.html). Not only was there research showing that individuals are affected, but also that solar activity seems to drive an increase in social unrest, revolutions and wars. This was first discovered by the Russian scientist Tchijevsky in 1916. Interestingly, during the current Solar Cycle 24, social unrest has increased. The Occupy movement started in the USA then spread to many countries throughout the world. Social unrest that toppled regimes in Tunisia, Libya and Egypt happened in a relatively short time period.
However, it’s important to remember that increased solar activity can have a positive impact as well. Suitbert Ertel, a German professor, found an increase in human creativity in art, science and architecture during periods of increased solar energy.
While an increasing influx of solar energy will continue to impact us during 2012, it is each individual’s choice and responsibility to establish balance within oneself. Then we can choose to flex with the influx of energy created by the sun and direct it to increase our creative intentions for a better future. (See www.glcoherence.org)
2. SUN ECLIPSE – 20/21 MAY 2012
As seen from the Earth, a solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth, and the Moon fully or partially blocks out the Sun. This can happen only during a new moon, when the Sun and the Moon are in conjunction as seen from Earth. In a total eclipse, the disk of the Sun is fully obscured by the Moon. In partial and annular eclipses only part of the Sun is obscured.
There is a full eclipse later on the year on 13 November, but on 20/21 May 2012, an annular eclipse of the Sun is visible from within a narrow corridor that traverses Earth's northern Hemisphere. The path of the Moon's antumbral shadow begins in eastern Asia and crosses the North Pacific Ocean where it ends in the western United States. The shadow produces a partial eclipse visible from a much larger region covering East Asia, North Pacific, North America and Greenland.
The eclipse will be visible from a 240 to 300 kilometre-wide track that begins in southern China at 22:06 UT. Travelling eastward, the shadow quickly sweeps along the southern coast of Japan as the central line duration of annularity grows from 4.4 to 5.0 minutes.
Tokyo lies 10 kilometres north of the central line. For the over 10 million residents within the metropolitan area, the annular phase will last 5 minutes beginning at 22:32 UT (on May 21 local time). Travelling with a velocity of 1.1 kilometres/second, the antumbral shadow leaves Japan and heads northeast across the Northern Pacific. The instant of greatest eclipse occurs at 23:52:47 UT when the eclipse magnitude reaches 0.9439. At that instant, the duration of annularity is 5 minutes 46 seconds, the path width is 237 kilometres.
The shadow passes just south of Alaska's Aleutian Islands as the central track slowly curves to the southeast. After a 7000 kilometre-long ocean voyage lasting nearly 2 hours, the antumbra finally reaches land again along the rugged coastlines of southern Oregon and northern California at 01:23 UT (May 20 local time).
It travels further across and by the time the antumbra reaches Albuquerque, NM (01:34 UT), the central duration is still 4 1/2 minutes. As its leading edge reaches the Texas Panhandle, the shadow is now an elongated ellipse extending all the way to Nevada. Seconds later, the antumbra begins its rise back into space above western Texas as the track and the annular eclipse end.

3. PARTIAL MOON ECLIPSE 4 JUNE 2012
The Moon is partially blocked out in the sky by the Earth. Observers in western Canada and the USA will have the best views, with moonset occurring sometime after mid-eclipse. To catch the entire event, one must be located in the Pacific or eastern Australia.
4. VENUS ECLIPSE – 5 & 6th JUNE 2012
In its course around the Sun, the planet Venus overtakes the Earth every 1.6 years. It then passes between Earth and the Sun. But not on every occasion the planet is seen passing exactly in front of the Sun. Because the orbit of Venus is slightly tilted, the planet usually passes above or below the solar disk when it overtakes Earth. Very rarely we are granted to see Venus projected unto the Sun as a small, black silhouette. This so-called transit of Venus will happen on 5 and 6 June 2012 for the very last time this century - it will be your grandchildren who will watch the next one!
Venus is about the same size as the Earth, but even though the planet is nearest to Earth at the time of a transit, it still looks very small at that distance. During the transit, Venus can be seen from Earth as a small black disk moving across the face of the Sun. It takes about 6 hours for the planet to move from the left side of the Sun (ingress) to the right side (egress).
Where and when to be to observe the transit of Venus
The transit of Venus lasts for about 6 hours on Tuesday 5 June and Wednesday 6 June. When you’re living in North America, you will see the first part of the transit before sunset on 5th June. European observers will see the last part of the transit after sunrise on 6 June. If you are in the Pacific, East Asia and above the Arctic Circle, you can see the transit in its entirety.

PYRAMIDS OF GLASS? TRUTH OR FICTION?

These strange underwater pyramid structures at a depth of two thousand meters were identified with the help of a sonar according to oceanographer Dr. Verlag Meyer. Studies of other structures like Yonaguni in modern day Japan have allowed scientists to determine that the two giant pyramids, apparently made of something like a thick glass, are really impressive - each of them is larger than the pyramid of Cheops in Egypt.
Recently American and French scientists as well as other countries that are conducting surveys in areas of the seabed of the Bermuda Triangle, claim to have found a pyramid standing upright on the seabed that has never been discovered. The length of the base of this pyramid reached 300 meters, 200 meters height, and distance from base to the tip of the pyramid is about 100 meters above the sea floor. Preliminary results show this structure to be made of glass or a glass-like (crystal?) material, as it is entirely smooth and partially translucent.
When talking about size, this newly re-discovered pyramid is larger in scale than the pyramids of ancient Egypt. On top of the pyramid there are two very large holes, sea water at high speed move through the second hole, and therefore the raging waves roll by forming a giant vortex that makes the waters around this cause a massive surge waves and mist on the sea surface. This new discovery makes scientists wonder if this is having an affect on passing boats and planes and could be the reason for all the mystery surrounding the area.

Mandalas are relatively well known. The Monks of Tibet do huge mandalas with different coloured sand, stones and crystals. They spend many, many hours working on a mandala to make it incredibly rich and beautiful and meaningful - and then - they tip it over often into a flowing river! To release it into the world for healing - and to remind us that here on Earth and in our physical dimension everything ultimately has to come to an end and return to Source.
Mandalas are often also described as colourful paintings that are in such perfect balance that they automatically help us to balance the left and right parts of our brain.
And this in turn helps us to be more creative and innovative, because any creative expression requires balance between the two parts of our brain – masculine and feminine. It also has fantastic results with children.
WORKING WITH THE THIRD EYE OR PSYCHIC CENTRE
But very few people are aware of the much greater power of mandalas: that they can be used as a tool for the conscious creation of beauty and happiness in our own lives and the world around us. This happens when we add the very powerful force of our third eye or psychic centre that allows us to tap into the soul energy of the Earth:

As we are evolving, we are becoming far more aware of the incredible effect that the Earth has on our bodies and the expression of our soul. The Ancient people knew this far too well and that is why they built or should we rather say- moulded- earth temples. Magnificent examples can be seen at Machu Picchu, the Egyptian Pyramids, Mayan temples and many more. But very often earth temples exist in nature already. Even the magnificent monuments of the Ancients show that they merely recognised and amplified this energy in the places where it always existed.

THE CONTENTS
During the course we will be working on remembering the above more consciously as a group. All the work we will be doing will be through own experience since that is the only way to truly learn on all levels- the body will also have an opportunity to change through the experience.
And so on the FIRST day we will be working on removing the blocks that stops us from accessing more information and connection with our third eye. Any past trauma or , for example, abuse, closes our third eye and so there is a need to gently open the third eye again so that it can heal and start to operate as it is meant to in our reality and lives. We will also be doing some exercises to help us work more easily with the third eye- it is like a muscle, the more we use it, the more it develops!
The SECOND day will be all about connecting to the Earth and especially with the soul energies of the Earth at Glastonbury Tor- a very ancient and powerful feminine earth temple that is incredibly beautiful and holds many keys for the future.
And then on the THIRD day we will be celebrating the completion of our process with the mandalas - balancing our inner and outer selves, our masculine and feminine sides and also our human and star seeded selves.

THE RETREAT TRIP
LIMA - AREQUIPA
We start our journey in the capital of Peru, Lima, a big city on the Pacific Ocean. Here we meet as a group to catch our flight to Arequipa – south of Lima and well known for its glistening white buildings made from a white volcanic rock which gives the city its nickname “La Ciudad Blanca” or The White City”. Arequipa is surrounded by 3 volcanoes – highly respected because the melting water from their snow-capped peaks form the headwaters of the mighty Amazon River, thousands of kilometres away. But probably the most astonishing site in Arequipa is the Monasterio de Santa Catalina which opened to the public only in 1970 after 400 years as a cloister. The convent is a complete miniature walled colonial town in the middle of the city filled with arches and flower gardens. *Here we will reap some amazing feminine energy – bursting with fertility, beauty, abundance.
AREQUIPA – PUNO
Next we travel on to Puno, a small village at the foot of Lake Titicaca. The altitude is very high and we do some resting and acclimatising. But for those of you who are well and adventurous enough- there is a day trip to see the floating reed Islands of Uros and the Island of Taquile – an island on the lake where traditional dress is still worn by the local people.
PUNO – COPACABANA – ISLA DEL SOL (BOLIVIA)
They say that the Boliva side of Lake Titicaca is the most beautiful and so we travel across the border. Here in Bolivia we spend our first night in the town of Copacabana. Copacabana's religious celebrations and traditional festivals are well known throughout Bolivia. The following day we leave by boat for Isla del Sol, the sacred Inca island. It is said that the Islands of the Sun and the Moon represent two of the greatest natural and cultural monuments of South America. During the Inca occupation of the region (around A.D. 1470 - 1532) these islands were the final destination of ritual pilgrimages from all around the Inca Empire. However, recently recovered archaeological evidence indicates that the sacred nature of these islands extends back at least to the Tiwanaku Empire (A.D. 600 - 1100). Prior to this time, humans first occupied the islands as early as 2000 B.C., and have continuously lived there for millennia. *The Islands of the Sun and the Moon are very singificant portals of earth energy and power and we gather some important Soul energy for our journey here.
CUSCO
After our stay on the Island of the Sun where we also have an opportunity to respectfully share a space in the homes of some local people, we travel back to Peru and further north to connect with the amazingly expansive energies of Cusco. Cusco was the capital of the INCA and is also translated as “navel” of the world – a name well deserved because of the extraordinary energies of this place so honoured by the INCA. Many have fallen in love with Cusco and never want to leave! *We visit the Gold Museum in Cusco to find our deeper connection to the INCA energies and also our relationship with the greater whole. Cusco is truly one of the richest spiritual capitals of the world!
OLLANTAYTAMBO - MORAY
Next we travel on to one of the most beautiful and feminine villages in the Sacred Valley of Machu Picchu. After some serious flooding a few years ago in Peru, this village has reclaimed its power and holds some very powerful connections to water- the special gift that the INCA people had when building their villages and monuments. Running waterways are still used in the village with its magnificent huge stones in the high temples of the ruins. *And so, Ollantaytambo is an important part of our journey to connect to the magic of water. We also visit the nearby site of Moray. Moray has a very mysterious atmosphere, much connected to star energies and there is much speculation as to what it was originally built and used for. Circular terraces speak of some experiments with water and plants and it has an incredible view of the snow capped Andes. * We do a special ceremony here to anchor star sun energies for the trip into our bodies.
MACHU PICCHU!
And then – at last! -we reach our real destination- Machu Picchu! We travel by train along the scenic Inca Trail to reach the small village just below Machu Picchu, called Machu Picchu Pueblo. Nestled among the mountains and next to the mighty Urubamba River, this area has a completely different feel. It is part of the cloud forest and much more lush and tropical. We visit some markets with beautiful colourful goods such as fabrics, crystals and jewellery and soak in the special energies of Machu Picchu that you feel immediately as you visit the area. And on the very special day of WINTER SOLSTICE we rise early to great the sun at the Sungate of Machu Picchu. Like so many, many times before, and through the ages, we once again gather to pay homage to the Sun! At the Sun temple WITH ITS SPECIAL ALIGNMENT TO THE SOLSTICES we also do a special meditation to honour the Sun- the most incredible opportunity to be at a place of such beauty and peace in 2012!
CUSCO - LIMA
After our journey to the Sun, we have time to rest and integrate as we finally return to Cusco by train where you are able to catch a flight back to Lima and then your international flight back home.

SOME PRELIMINARY NOTES
Please note that nothing on the scheduled programme is compulsory- it there to help and assist you to have a spiritual experience of Peru & Bolivia, but it is up to you as to how and when you want to join in. Having said that, I encourage you to do take part in as much as you can, because very often it is by taking yourself out of your comfort zone that magic happens!
Please also note we often visit the sites in silence so as to have an inner experience first and find a spiritual connection with the site and energies.
What is so special about the trip in 2012?
The dates chosen above are given to me under guidance to make sure that the trip will be safe and happen at the most auspicious and spiritually awakening times of that year when visiting the Sacred Sites on the itinerary. The year of 2012 holds special opportunities and being at MACHU PICCHU for the winter solstice will be an unbelievably precious and exciting opportunity for all of us!
Food
Lunch and suppers are not included in the overall costing of the retreat. This is to keep the cost of the trip flexible and make it easy for each person individually to decide what they would like to eat and also how much they want to spend on food. You have the choice and you will be given ample suggestions as to where to find good local food on our visit. Most of the food in Peru & Bolivia is fresh and grown locally with fantastic salads and products such as quinoa soup etc. You can also try the local meat varieties such as Alpacha. There are a range of types of food available (from fast food to traditional) and also in terms of budget.
Budget on about $12-20 as an average cost per day for meals and eating out.
What is the accommodation like?
SACRED EARTH RETREATS are planned to make it affordable to most people on a budget (without having to do camping or backpacking!), the rooms are simple but clean and enjoyable and in tune with the general rural atmosphere of Peru & Bolivia. Most accommodation establishments that call themselves hotels or hostals are really simple hotels that provide fair but basic accommodation. The accommodation chosen on this trip is clean, has an interesting and scenic aspect to it, has en suite bathrooms and also hot water- not a given always! Be prepared to have your standard needs met, but nothing luxurious. At the Island of the Sun in Bolivia we will have a special opportunity to stay with local people in their homes- a great opportunity to have more than just a superficial interaction with the local people of South America- we can learn so much from them!
How do we travel?
We travel as a group together in taxis and micro buses for most of the way.
It is only possible to go to Machu Picchu Pueblo (the village just below Machu Picchu) by train and so we will be catching a train on our way there and back. It is truly a beautiful journey along the Urubamba River.
Flights
The flight at the beginning of the retreat to Arequipa is a short flight and included in the retreat fee.
All international flights connect out of Lima International airport and so at the end of the retreat you will need to fly back from Cusco to Lima (about an hour flight). The cost of this is also included in the retreat fee although the retreat ends when we arrive back in Cusco by train.
You will need to arrange your own international flights to and from Lima.
Entrance fees
There are different options regarding the type of tickets that are available depending on what you want to do, but all entrance tickets are included in the price of the trip so you don’t need to worry about which ones are best suited to your needs and are the most economical.
What do I need to know about weather?
When packing it is best to bring layers that you can put on and take off. You will be given more information about what to pack etc closer to the trip. You can buy very cheap plastic ponchos for any occasional down pour that may happen in the afternoon. Our trip in June is a good time to go to Peru - the rainy season is over and the evenings are not that cold yet as it is in August of the year when it is mid winter in Peru.
Machu Picchu is high altitude but part of the Cloud forest, so the weather is mild, but you will need sun hats and sunscreen for the Inca Sun!
Do I have to worry about altitude sickness?
It is an important aspect to think about and to do some preparation before the trip.
If you have a history of strokes or very high blood pressure you will not be able to take the high altitude pills if you are in fact not able to cope with the altitude when you are in Peru & Bolivia. There are certain simple procedures that can be followed to help you adjust and if you have particular concerns, it may even be advisable for you to arrive a day or two before the retreat starts, to make sure that you are rested. The highest altitude you will be at is Lake Titicaca and since that is at the beginning of the trip, it is important to rest the day you arrive and if possible even sleep! Cusco is also at high altitude, but at the time we arrive there your body will have adjusted to the altitude. Machu Picchu is lower than Cusco so once you have adjusted to the altitude at Lake Titicaca and Cusco you will be fine for the rest of the trip.
Altitude sickness is unpredictable and although it will be good for you to become fit and trim before the trip, it does not necessarily mean you will not be affected. Often it affects younger persons more than if you are older and not so fit!
On some level the altitude is symbolic of ascending also in your body and so at the end of the trip you will find that not only are you emotionally and mentally a lot sharper, your body will also be more efficient because it has learnt to use oxygen more efficiently. In all the years that I have taken groups to Peru I have not had anyone who has had life threatening/serious complications, although often I have made sure that people stay in bed and just sleep because of the first symptoms they have of altitude sickness!
Also, many people complain about having stomach upsets in Peru & Bolivia because of the altitude and also different conditions with water. It is recommended that you only drink bottled water and there are other measures that you can take to make sure you get over any complaint quickly. Very often it is a way for the body to detox, but it need not ruin your trip and also when you are with a group you have the comfort of knowing that you are supported and that if you need any medical attention is easy to find for you. Consider medical insurance that covers all kinds of eventualities.
Malaria and yellow fever
There is not any malaria where we visit- it is applicable if you visit the areas near the Amazon, but if you are South African and visit Peru you will need to show a a yellow fever injection certificate on your return to South Africa..

Machu Picchu PERU holds some of the most feminine and important energies for our planet. It has a simplicity and gentleness of the Heart that one cannot truly understand - until one has been there.
This amazing feeling of peace and connection to the Heart comes from an ancient heritage born in Peru where the indigenous people have always understood and communicated with the more subtle energies of Mother Nature. Being in tune with these cosmic soul energies of Pachamama - as they affectionately call her - they have always treated the Earth as a living energetic being that creates life for them and their children.
But even more than that. Peru has the wonder of Machu Picchu.
Many are intrigued about why so many people are drawn to visit the lost city of Machu Picchu at this time in our world. IT IS SAID TO BE THE MOST VISITED PLACE IN SOUTH AMERICA!
Built as a place that is literally “above the clouds,” it is said that its purpose was to commune with the gods from above, a sacred place where humans and the cosmic gods of Nature could safely meet without any interference.
The concept of building a city of the size and magnitude of Machu Picchu even now seems ridiculous. Yet this was done painstakingly and with the most incredible amount of patience and aptitude. The people of Machu Picchu knew what they were doing- they had a master plan that was so brilliantly conceived that we now need to find the same to build and create our own sustainable world for the future!
When you look at Machu Picchu, its ultimate genius is that of working with the hazards of the elements. High up on the top of a mountain, dealing safely with the force of the elements and most importantly rain, had to be a priority. And so structures were conceived and taken from ancient civilisations of the past that made sure that there was incredible security in the face of heavy cloud bursts, earth quakes, torrential rain- for this was after all a place of the Gods and with it came the raw elemental forces of nature! And so even today you will see a system of conducting water that ensures that these channels of water still function with water to this day. Stones were built in an inherent pyramid structure using bedrock and so the entire city is still standing in very much the way it was built - after thousands of years in the most daunting of locations.
Machu Picchu holds a vital key to our future!

A NEW YEAR 2012
Hi everyone!
As we reach for the stars and start the very significant year of 2012, very many important questions remain:
Will we make it through the night, is there really so much hope in sight, will we finally be become the enlightened Earth species that everyone has been talking of through the ages?
It has been a long journey, maybe too long for some- but hey! We are here! We have made it through to 2012 and we are celebrating.
Celebrating a new year full of potential. A new year that already has the foundation of what has been before and for once we are starting to reap the harvest of many, many lifetimes of work…
Evolution. We are evolving as a species like never before.
BODY CHANGES
Take a good look at your body. Have you noticed the changes? We are all becoming much, much lighter. It almost has a crystalline feel. We are still present here, but there is so much more emerging from our bodies. Deep within the cells, there is a vibrancy that is cool, connected and still very new.
And with the Earth it is the same. Of course! We are part of her and she is part of us. It can be no different.
CORE DAYS
Part of this very important change is linked to us experiencing a series of unbelievable time cycles that are described within the Mayan spiritual calendar as GAP days and CORE days. These huge cycles of energy have given us, personally and humanity, collectively, the most incredible opportunity to change- positively!!!
And without mistake these cycles have taken place during the very auspicious time of Christmas and the New year, magnifying opportunities to the maximum.
WHAT ARE THESE GAP AND CORE DAYS?
Gap (Galactic Activation Portal) days are days in the spiritual calendar of the Maya (called the Tzolkin) when the veils between the visible and invisible worlds are very thin and so we are more closely connected to the heart of the Milky Way - also called Hunab K’u.
Incredibly, from the new moon on Christmas eve till 3rd January 2012 we have had a continuous period of 10 days of GAP days, enabling us to be the most connected to the heart of the Milky Way. And 6 days later – from the full moon of 9th January 2012 – 28th January 2012 - we have had another big cycle: a 20 day period of Core days.
Core days are in the centre or spine of the spiritual Tzolkin calendar. It is also called the mystic column because all is reflected from this centre. Core days are intense, both emotionally and physically.
Core days are strongly focused on the HERE and NOW and some of you may have noticed it, it is as if you cannot remember what you did or where you were only a moment ago- as if nothing else existed but where you are now. There is no memory of anything else- quite a strange feeling!
REFLECTING ON THE GIFT OF THE LAST TWO CYCLES
It may be a wonderful gift to dwell on how these last cycles have affected you particularly and to bring it all into conscious understanding. This will magnify the benefit for you so much more.
So look at how since the day before Christmas you have perhaps had some physical symptoms, or emotional challenges. All of these will give you clues as to what you have been healing on a core level- the most basic level of you - to find harmonious adjustment!
A PEACEFUL WORLD?
As the energy frequencies of the Earth, our bodies and the world rise, we are getting closer and closer to the ideal of a peaceful world. Some of you may have noticed much talk about star people, extra terrestrial contact, other space inhabited worlds? Maybe it is not as fantastic as we think, maybe the time is getting closer to know that we are part of something much bigger than we have believed until now…
And maybe we may just have that unbelievable dream of a peaceful and spiritually abundant world!

Bringing In The Light
Have you been tired lately? Does it seem that no matter how much sleep you get, you still feel like you need more? That is how it has been for many of us. In fact, some of us have
discovered what we are tired of. We are tired of the low frequency of the third dimension. The juxtaposition between the frequency of light that is entering our consciousness, and the frequency of the physical world is becoming so different that it is increasingly difficult to hold onto both of these worlds at the same time.
In spite of this juxtaposition of energies, we are NOT so tired when we choose to focus on expressing our Multidimensional SELF in a creative way. When we are engaged in creative activities, we lose our fatigue and become quite energized. On the other hand, when we need to take care of our third dimensional responsibilities such as driving to work, paying our bills, cleaning the house, etc. we often feel exhausted. Fortunately, when we are being creative, and there are as many definitions of creativity as there are people, we become enlivened again. Furthermore, the term "creative" is also changing. Creative used to mean that we learned or had an innate ability to DO certain creative things, such as singing, painting, dancing, athletics, etc. Now creativity means that we are learning to use our innate ability to be the creators of our life. When we are the creators of our life, we can choose to DO anything we want, except that there are certain mundane tasks that seem to linger on and on. Because of the ever-increasing frequency of light and unconditional love emanating form the Galactic Center, our ability to be creators of our own life is steadily increasing. On December 21, 2012 Earth will be directly in front of the Galactic Center Therefore, in only 11 months, the "time" that we have awaited for millennia, and the transformative energies that has been prophesied by every religion and sacred group, will be streaming directly into our personal and planetary body. The Galactic Center is so close now that these increasingly intense energies are already creating rapid changes our world. All we have to do is to look at the Internet or even the traditional news to see how people are deciding that they want to be the creators of their lives. People all over the world are saying, "I love myself enough now to know that I deserve a better life. I love myself enough now that I am able to expand my mind and open my heart to a new way of perceiving reality." We are feeling this way because unconditional love is intermingled with the high frequency light that is streaming from the Galactic Center and into our planetary consciousness. Unconditional love is not an emotion like human love. Unconditional love is the highest frequency of light. It is the creative force of the Multiverse, which activates our healing, creativity and transformation when we download and integrate it into our consciousness. Unconditional love is, also, the bonding force of the Multiverse. Therefore, it is creates a sense of Unity Consciousness for those who embrace it. Because of our ever-expanding Unity Consciousness, reality is no longer something that is outside of us. Reality is INSIDE of every one of us, yet we share our reality with everyone. But, if everyone has his or her reality inside, how can it be that we seem to be in the same reality? Some questions need to remain unanswered until we can stabilize our multidimensional thinking. Some questions are beyond the limits our physical brain and only have a multidimensional answer. These multidimensional answers will come to us as we continue to expand our consciousness to encompass higher and higher frequencies of light. In other words, in order to understand, or even perceive multidimensional messages, our consciousness has to resonate to the frequency of that information. As a result, whenever we expand our consciousness, our perception of reality expands as well.
Going back to the question of, "How can separate individuals who all have reality inside of them share reality with the others?" The answer is that no one is separate and there are no others. In the higher frequency expressions of our SELF we are ONE with all life. Being ONE means that there is nothing that is outside, or even inside, of us because here is no outside or inside. There are only the moments in which we are fully connected with the ONE. In these moments we are calm, peaceful, joyful and loving. We do not need to try to BE any way or DO anything in order to be calm and peaceful. It is just that every now and again, we are experiencing random moments of feeling at ONE with all life. How did we get there, and what do we have to do to stay there? We only ask these questions when we have lost the sense of Being ONE. "Here," "there, "do," "stay" are foreign concepts when we are having our "Radom moment of Unity." Surrendering to these moments of the NOW is the kindest thing we can do for our self. Moreover, since we are truly all ONE, whenever we are kind to our self, we are kind to everyone. In fact, whatever we DO for our self or to our self, we DO for or to everyone. When we are having these ever-increasing moments of unity with the ONE, we lose all our fatigue. Our bodies are no longer heavy, and we feel light. In fact, we feel like we ARE Light. It becomes difficult to keep our eyes open because we want to see with our Third Eye and hear with our High Heart. Also, when we close our eyes we are not as distracted by the illusions of our third dimensional reality. Free of this distraction, the feeling of Unity with all life is amplified. With our eyes closed we can better see our inner light, as well as the inner light of others. Simultaneously, we can more clearly understand our experience via the high frequency energies of our opened High Heart.

Most of you still have the habit of placing most of your attention on the third dimension. Yet, when you do so, you feel hollow, exhausted and lonely. These feelings are what remind you to remember that YOU are a multidimensional being, and you do NOT need to limit your perception to that lower frequency of reality. For example, do you always look down at the one-dimensional rocks, or always look at the two dimensional plants? Do you always look down to the ground and not up into the sky? No, you do not. Also, can you sense how some people feel different to you than others? Some people drain you, whereas other people give you strength. The first group is still asleep, but wants some of the FEEL that they unconsciously recognize in you. Because these people are still unaware of their power, they have no recognition that they are pulling on your energy field. They are not trying to harm you; they are simply unaware.
On the other hand, the second group of people is awake, and they nourish you with their wonderful energy field. In fact, you both experience a rush of renewed energy when you are together because you pull each other into the Oneness. These are the people you seek outwhen you want to relax and regenerate. Those of you who have awakened to your multidimensional consciousness are learning to discern between these two types of people. Within this discernment you will choose to spend less of your "time" with those who are depleting you and more time with those who appreciate you for being your SELF.You are the creator of your life and have the full ability to release that, which pulls on you. You do not have to associate with persons, places or situation that are unable to reciprocate by giving you light and/or love in return for the light and love you send them. If you feel you cannot leave this person, place, situation or thing, then you must go inside and find the reason why you are creating this energy-pull in your daily life. When you choose to remain in those situations, there is a great temptation to forget your SELF and fall into your wounded ego. If you can align your perceptions with the higher frequency expressions of your SELF, you will better understand the reason for this challenge in your life. From this higher perspective, you will be able to understand why you believe you deserve that treatment. Then, you can go to the source of that wounding and love it free. You are too important to Gaia to become lost in squabbles and confrontations based on lower frequency perceptions of life. You are wonderful, multidimensional beings who are busy with the process of ascending yourselves and your planet. ANY person, place, situation or thing that interferes with that Mission needs to be addressed, healed and/or released.Feel your Multidimensional SELF around you and unconditionally love the embryo of the New SELF within you. Remember to remember who you are and why you are currently holding a physical earth vessel. You are in the process of ascending beyond the polarity of conflict and confrontation and moving into a frequency in which EVERY emotion and thought becomes instantly manifest. Therefore, your greatest challenge is not with those around you, but within your heart and mind.

THE RETREAT TRIP
Our retreat will start in Johannesburg from where we set off on a journey to the north. The direction of North represents the ANCESTORS in tribal traditions and so on this trip we will be particularly blessed with opportunities to get in touch with the Ancestors of the Southern African region that hold great significance for ourselves and the future of beloved Africa.
After meeting at Johannesburg Airport, we travel north to first visit the Debengeni Falls with its tradition of the Modjaji Rain Queen. Next we visit the astounding lost civilisation of Mapungubwe. Many examples of artwork have been found here, including a golden RHINO. At Mapungubwe we do a special ceremony to connect with the Ancestors and honour the energies of the Rhino and other wild animals of the region. Here it is a time to build and strengthen important energies of balance and healing for the future.
Next we travel on to reach our very important destination of The Great Zimbabwe Ruins. On the significant date of 22/2/2012 and at the time of a new Moon, we do a special Earth ceremony to honour the Ancestors and to reconnect with the Ruins’ ancient links with the Great Pyramid of Egypt and the teachings of Egypt that were brought south. The Great Zimbabwe Ruins are mentioned as the most significant ruins south of the Sahara Desert. WE also visit Lake Kyle park to spend more time with the wild animals in the region and receive their blessing.
We travel further to another place of tremendous Earth power and here, in particular, of spiritual artistic expression, the Matobo Hills in the west of Zimbabwe. Huge boulders of granite testify to highly evolved civilisations who once walked the Earth and in caves you will find some of the most fascinating examples of ancient rock art.
Finally we move on to what must surely be one of the most inspiring and beautiful natural wonders of our world: the unforgettable Great Victoria Falls- a sight that overwhelms the senses with its the sheer spiritual power, ancient beauty, magnificence. We connect with the essence of Life, water, in all its abundance and power to bring back life to our Hearts, the Heart of Africa and the Greater Whole.
We return by plane from Victoria Falls to Johannesburg where our journey of re-awakening ends.

NOTES ON SITES:
Debengeni Falls
“The place of the big pot” is the English translation from the Pedi language for the word Debengeni. And what a word to describe what nature has created at the foot of the Magoebaskloof mountains, just out Tzaneen in the Limpopo province. The Ramadipa river cascades over 80m down the Debengeni Falls into a large basin which has been slowly formed over millions of years by the rivers powerful forces. Today the basin is an ideal spot for a dip in the cool refreshing waters. (Please note due to seasonal temperature changes, swimming is only recommended between December and March.)
MAPUNGUBWE KINGDOM (SOUTH AFRICA)
The ancient city of Mapungubwe, located at the basin of the Limpopo River in South Africa, is considered by some as the capital of Southern Africa’s first state, flourishing as a trading centre for a short period from 1220 to around 1300.
It centres round a steep-sided sandstone hill that was the home and burial ground of the elite and royalty. Artefacts, the most notable of which is a gold foil rhinoceros, were excavated from burial sites. Commoners lived on the surrounding plateau and at the foot of the hill, where court was held.
Ivory, gold and pottery were traded for beads and cloth.
Cultural, political and economic power shifted to Great Zimbabwe when climatic conditions changed and Mapungubwe went into decline.
Mapungubwe is a World Heritage Site
THE GREAT ZIMBABWE RUINS (ZIMBABWE)
Great Zimbabwe, sub-Saharan Africa's greatest ancient wonder and most important and largest stone ruins, was a medieval city that at its peak had up to 20 000 inhabitants. It was ideally placed on a route between inland gold-producing regions and ports on the Mozambique coast trading gold and ivory for beads, cloth and other goods.
Beautiful mortar-less granite walls curve sinuously over the landscape, the highest of which stand three stories high.
The ruins form three architectural groups known as the Hill Complex, the Valley Complex and the Great Enclosure. The Hill Complex, the oldest, is where it is thought the Great Zimbabwe Birds stood. The Great Enclosure, the most impressive ruin, was most likely a royal residence.
Great Zimbabwe may also have been a religious centre. Monoliths and altars are found throughout the site, and artefacts may have held religious meaning.
In addition to architecture, Great Zimbabwe's most famous works of art are the eight birds carved of soapstone that were found in its ruins. The birds surmount columns more than a yard tall and are themselves on average sixteen inches tall. The sculptures combine both human and avian elements, substituting human features like lips for a beak and five-toed feet for claws. Excavated at the turn of the century, it is known that six of the sculptures came from the Eastern Enclosure of the Hill complex, but unfortunately their precise arrangement can only be surmised. Scholars have suggested that the birds served as emblems of royal authority, perhaps representing the ancestors of Great Zimbabwe's rulers. Although their precise significance is still unknown, these sculptures remain powerful symbols of rule in the modern era, adorning the flag of Zimbabwe as national emblems.
The site’s abandonment was possibly due to changes in trade and dwindling resources.
Great Zimbabwe is also a World Heritage Site.
LAKE MUTURIKWE AND LAKE KYLE RECREATIONAL PARK (ZIMBABWE)
Lake Mutirikwe, formerly known as Lake Kyle, lies in south eastern Zimbabwe, south east of Masvingo and close to the Great Zimbabwe Ruins. It covers about 90 km² and was created in 1960 with the construction of the Kyle Dam on the Mutirikwe River. Lake Kyle Recreational Park lies on the reservoir's northern shore. It is a 4 800ha game park which is stocked with a variety of animals including white Rhino, Giraffe, Zebra and several species of antelope. The habitat in the park is varied and includes miombo woodland, granite outcrops, acacia thornveld and the lake shoreline. Over 270 species of birds have been recorded here.
MATOBO HILLS (ZIMBABWE)
The Matobo Hills have one of the highest concentrations of rock art in Southern Africa.
The earlier paintings, dated back at least 13,000 years, are essentially naturalistic interpretations of people, animals and trees. They are associated with hunting and gathering and are mostly executed using a red ochre pigment, mixed with an as yet unknown binder. The later paintings associated with farming communities used white pigment from kaolin or quartz. This distinction is common within the region, but stylistically Matobo is part of a rock-art 'region' stretching from South Africa to Tanzania. It is also interesting that many of the paintings have distorted body proportions to convey a sense of movement, or size to convey importance. In many sites there are layers of paintings superimposed one on top of the other. Images in the later paintings also appear to display a complex cosmology linked to religious beliefs.
The area has many distinctive rock landforms rising above the granite shield that covers much of Zimbabwe. Their forms have resulted from the varied composition and alignment of the granites, which responded differently to millions of years of weathering.
The discrete and often small sheltered spaces, formed between this dense collection of rocks, have fostered a wide variety of microclimates, allowing the development of an extremely diverse range of habitats. Out of 189 mammal species indigenous to Zimbabwe, 88 have been recorded in the Matobo Hills, plus a further 70 pairs of bird species.
THE GREAT VICTORIA FALLS (ZIMBABWE)
The Victoria Falls or Mosi-oa-Tunya (the Smoke that Thunders) is a waterfall located on the Zambezi River between the countries of Zambia and Zimbabwe.
While it is neither the highest nor the widest waterfall in the world, it is claimed to be the largest. This claim is based on a width of 1,708 metres (5,604 ft) and height of 108 metres (354 ft), forming the largest sheet of falling water in the world.
For a considerable distance upstream from the falls, the Zambezi flows over a level sheet of basalt, in a shallow valley bounded by low and distant sandstone hills. The river's course is dotted with numerous tree-covered islands, which increase in number as the river approaches the falls. There are no mountains, escarpments, or deep valleys which might be expected to create a waterfall, only flat plateau extending hundreds of kilometres in all directions.
The falls are formed as the full width of the river plummets in a single vertical drop into a transverse chasm 1708 metres (5604 ft) wide, carved by its waters along a fracture zone in the basalt plateau. The depth of the chasm, called the First Gorge, varies from 80 metres (260 ft) at its western end to 108 metres (354 ft) in the centre. The only outlet to the First Gorge is a 110 metres (360 ft) wide gap about two-thirds of the way across the width of the falls from the western end, through which the whole volume of the river pours into the Victoria Falls gorges.
SOME PRELIMINARY GENERAL NOTES
What do I need to know about food?
Breakfasts are included in the retreat as indicated in the above itinerary. It is normally a varied buffet. Lunch and supper are not included in the overall costing of the retreat. This is to keep the cost of the trip flexible and make it easy for each person individually to decide what they would like to eat and also how much they want to spend on food.. Budget on between R100- R150 as an average cost per day for meals and eating out.
What is the accommodation like?
We stay in simple but very comfortable accommodation with two persons sharing, Be prepared to have your needs met, but nothing excessively luxurious.
How do we travel?
We travel as a group together by air conditioned mini van. We fly back from Victoria Falls to Johannesburg at the end of the trip. The cost of the flight is not included.
What do I need to know about weather?
It is summer time, so plenty of sunblock, hats and protective clothing, When packing it is best to bring layers that you can put on and take off
VISAS
Please check any requirements for visa or injections and medication such as for malaria (see below).
Timing
The dates of the trip has been given under guidance as an auspicious time to go, both energetically and also taking into account the climate. The ceremony of 22/2/2012 is very significant in that it works with the number 22 which is a master number (very powerful energy) and also takes account of the year 2012 that has the number 2 in it. It is also the time of a new moon, indicating new beginnings and a good time to put things in motion for manifestation.
WHAT TO TAKE -
• A passport which is valid for 6 months and which has at least two empty pages.
• Good quality sunglasses
• Sun hat - essential.
• High factor suntan lotion. (Water resistant is best)
• Casual day clothes such as T-shirts & shorts. While most accommodation is very casual, some have a smart-casual dress code for evening.
• Comfortable walking shoes (running/tennis shoes are also fine)
• Thongs/flip flops. Plastic shoes such as Strops are very useful for visiting the waterfalls as in high water months your shoes (and your clothes) will get wet!
• Light rain gear for summer months (late November to April)
• Swimming costume.
• long shorts to prevent your knees from burning in the sun and keep away mozzies.
• Camera equipment.
• South African travellers should take an international plug converter as both Zimbabwe and Zambia have square pin plugs.
• If you wear contact lenses, it may be a good idea to bring along a pair of glasses.
• Binoculars and a bird book if you are a keen bird watcher
• Personal toiletries and medication
• Malaria tablets and your yellow fever vaccination card (if travelling to or through Zambia and returning to RSA)
• Basic medical kit such as headache tablets, anti-histamine cream, Imodium.
• Insect repellent eg Tabard, Rid, Jungle Juice, etc
• Money: small denominations of USD the most useful to travel with in Zimbabwe. While South African Rand and other major currencies are widely accepted you may not like the rate of exchange you are given.
• A flashlight (torch). Please take spare batteries.
• Pen for filling out forms at passport controls.
• A sense of humour – This is Africa !
SPECIFIC ZIMBABWE TRAVEL INFO
Security:
The question is often asked “is it safe to go to Zimbabwe”? Absolutely, but as in most countries the locals can see that you are a tourist so be aware and take responsibility for the security of your stuff. Don’t create temptation by leaving cash and valuables lying around. Make use of the safe facilities that most lodges offer in facilities either in the rooms or at reception. As a tourist your valuable revenue is providing jobs and a lifeline to the families of those that are employed directly, and indirectly in the tourism industry.
Passports:
All visitors require valid passports to enter Zimbabwe
Passports must be valid for at least 6months and have at least 2 blank pages. See visa requirements below.
Visas:
Visas are only a formality for SA passport holders and passports are rubber stamped on entry to Zimbabwe.
Most passport holders including UK & US need a visa to enter Zimbabwe. Bar a few nationalities which require a visa prior to entering Zimbabwe, most visas can be bought on arrival in Zimbabwe. Only single and double entry visas can be obtained on arrival so if you are planning on going across to Livingstone for some activities and maybe to Chobe for the day you may want to consider getting a multiple entry visa before your arrival. These can only be obtained from a Zimbabwe Foreign office.
Money:
New: Credit cards can now be used in Victoria Falls, most lodges and hotels will accept Visa & MasterCard. ATM’s are also available at a number of locations.
Currency:
The official Zimbabwean currency is $US. Carry small denominations of dollars which you can use for drinks, tips and curios, South Africa Rand can also be used but not always at a great exchange rate, check before you spend.
DO NOT be tempted to change money with people on the street however charming or persistent. It’s against the law. Rather go to a reputable bureau de change.
Health:
The Victoria Falls region is a malaria area. Please consult a doctor. Be smart not paranoid. Cover up with long pants and shirts after dark, sleep under a mosquito net and use mosquito repellent. Be aware that a lot of anti malaria medication and pregnancies don’t go together.
Victoria Falls is serviced by medical air rescue services (MARS) They will be able to attend to you in an emergency and, if required, airlift you to the nearest hospital facility that can treat your condition.
All visitors are responsible for their own travel and medical insurance. Please ensure fully for emergency evacuation, medical, curtailment and repatriation.
No Yellow Fever vaccination is required for Victoria Falls Zimbabwe unless you enter the Zimbabwe via Zambia. Any visitor from South Africa who enters into Zambia will require a yellow fever vaccination certificate available at most Travel Clinics.

A NEW YEAR 2012
Hi everyone!
As we reach for the stars and start the very significant year of 2012, very many important questions remain:
Will we make it through the night, is there really so much hope in sight, will we finally be become the enlightened Earth species that everyone has been talking of through the ages?
It has been a long journey, maybe too long for some- but hey! We are here! We have made it through to 2012 and we are celebrating.
Celebrating a new year full of potential. A new year that already has the foundation of what has been before and for once we are starting to reap the harvest of many, many lifetimes of work…
Evolution. We are evolving as a species like never before.
BODY CHANGES
Take a good look at your body. Have you noticed the changes? We are all becoming much, much lighter. It almost has a crystalline feel. We are still present here, but there is so much more emerging from our bodies. Deep within the cells, there is a vibrancy that is cool, connected and still very new.
And with the Earth it is the same. Of course! We are part of her and she is part of us. It can be no different.
CORE DAYS
Part of this very important change is linked to us experiencing a series of unbelievable time cycles that are described within the Mayan spiritual calendar as GAP days and CORE days. These huge cycles of energy have given us, personally and humanity, collectively, the most incredible opportunity to change- positively!!!
And without mistake these cycles have taken place during the very auspicious time of Christmas and the New year, magnifying opportunities to the maximum.
WHAT ARE THESE GAP AND CORE DAYS?
Gap (Galactic Activation Portal) days are days in the spiritual calendar of the Maya (called the Tzolkin) when the veils between the visible and invisible worlds are very thin and so we are more closely connected to the heart of the Milky Way - also called Hunab K’u.
Incredibly, from the new moon on Christmas eve till 3rd January 2012 we have had a continuous period of 10 days of GAP days, enabling us to be the most connected to the heart of the Milky Way. And 6 days later – from the full moon of 9th January 2012 – 28th January 2012 - we have had another big cycle: a 20 day period of Core days.
Core days are in the centre or spine of the spiritual Tzolkin calendar. It is also called the mystic column because all is reflected from this centre. Core days are intense, both emotionally and physically.
Core days are strongly focused on the HERE and NOW and some of you may have noticed it, it is as if you cannot remember what you did or where you were only a moment ago- as if nothing else existed but where you are now. There is no memory of anything else- quite a strange feeling!
REFLECTING ON THE GIFT OF THE LAST TWO CYCLES
It may be a wonderful gift to dwell on how these last cycles have affected you particularly and to bring it all into conscious understanding. This will magnify the benefit for you so much more.
So look at how since the day before Christmas you have perhaps had some physical symptoms, or emotional challenges. All of these will give you clues as to what you have been healing on a core level- the most basic level of you - to find harmonious adjustment!
A PEACEFUL WORLD?
As the energy frequencies of the Earth, our bodies and the world rise, we are getting closer and closer to the ideal of a peaceful world. Some of you may have noticed much talk about star people, extra terrestrial contact, other space inhabited worlds? Have you been tired lately? Does it seem that no matter how much sleep you get, you still feel like you need more? That is how it has been for many of us. In fact, some of us have
discovered what we are tired of. We are tired of the low frequency of the third dimension. The juxtaposition between the frequency of light that is entering our consciousness, and the frequency of the physical world is becoming so different that it is increasingly difficult to hold onto both of these worlds at the same time.
In spite of this juxtaposition of energies, we are NOT so tired when we choose to focus on expressing our Multidimensional SELF in a creative way. When we are engaged in creative activities, we lose our fatigue and become quite energized. On the other hand, when we need to take care of our third dimensional responsibilities such as driving to work, paying our bills, cleaning the house, etc. we often feel exhausted. Fortunately, when we are being creative, and there are as many definitions of creativity as there are people, we become enlivened again. Furthermore, the term "creative" is also changing. Creative used to mean that we learned or had an innate ability to DO certain creative things, such as singing, painting, dancing, athletics, etc. Now creativity means that we are learning to use our innate ability to be the creators of our life. When we are the creators of our life, we can choose to DO anything we want, except that there are certain mundane tasks that seem to linger on and on. Because of the ever-increasing frequency of light and unconditional love emanating form the Galactic Center, our ability to be creators of our own life is steadily increasing. On December 21, 2012 Earth will be directly in front of the Galactic Center Therefore, in only 11 months, the "time" that we have awaited for millennia, and the transformative energies that has been prophesied by every religion and sacred group, will be streaming directly into our personal and planetary body. The Galactic Center is so close now that these increasingly intense energies are already creating rapid changes our world. All we have to do is to look at the Internet or even the traditional news to see how people are deciding that they want to be the creators of their lives. People all over the world are saying, "I love myself enough now to know that I deserve a better life. I love myself enough now that I am able to expand my mind and open my heart to a new way of perceiving reality." We are feeling this way because unconditional love is intermingled with the high frequency light that is streaming from the Galactic Center and into our planetary consciousness. Unconditional love is not an emotion like human love. Unconditional love is the highest frequency of light. It is the creative force of the Multiverse, which activates our healing, creativity and transformation when we download and integrate it into our consciousness. Unconditional love is, also, the bonding force of the Multiverse. Therefore, it is creates a sense of Unity Consciousness for those who embrace it. Because of our ever-expanding Unity Consciousness, reality is no longer something that is outside of us. Reality is INSIDE of every one of us, yet we share our reality with everyone. But, if everyone has his or her reality inside, how can it be that we seem to be in the same reality? Some questions need to remain unanswered until we can stabilize our multidimensional thinking. Some questions are beyond the limits our physical brain and only have a multidimensional answer. These multidimensional answers will come to us as we continue to expand our consciousness to encompass higher and higher frequencies of light. In other words, in order to understand, or even perceive multidimensional messages, our consciousness has to resonate to the frequency of that information. As a result, whenever we expand our consciousness, our perception of reality expands as well.
Going back to the question of, "How can separate individuals who all have reality inside of them share reality with the others?" The answer is that no one is separate and there are no others. In the higher frequency expressions of our SELF we are ONE with all life. Being ONE means that there is nothing that is outside, or even inside, of us because here is no outside or inside. There are only the moments in which we are fully connected with the ONE. In these moments we are calm, peaceful, joyful and loving. We do not need to try to BE any way or DO anything in order to be calm and peaceful. It is just that every now and again, we are experiencing random moments of feeling at ONE with all life. How did we get there, and what do we have to do to stay there? We only ask these questions when we have lost the sense of Being ONE. "Here," "there, "do," "stay" are foreign concepts when we are having our "Radom moment of Unity." Surrendering to these moments of the NOW is the kindest thing we can do for our self. Moreover, since we are truly all ONE, whenever we are kind to our self, we are kind to everyone. In fact, whatever we DO for our self or to our self, we DO for or to everyone. When we are having these ever-increasing moments of unity with the ONE, we lose all our fatigue. Our bodies are no longer heavy, and we feel light. In fact, we feel like we ARE Light. It becomes difficult to keep our eyes open because we want to see with our Third Eye and hear with our High Heart. Also, when we close our eyes we are not as distracted by the illusions of our third dimensional reality. Free of this distraction, the feeling of Unity with all life is amplified. With our eyes closed we can better see our inner light, as well as the inner light of others. Simultaneously, we can more clearly understand our experience via the high frequency energies of our opened High Heart.

Most of you still have the habit of placing most of your attention on the third dimension. Yet, when you do so, you feel hollow, exhausted and lonely. These feelings are what remind you to remember that YOU are a multidimensional being, and you do NOT need to limit your perception to that lower frequency of reality. For example, do you always look down at the one-dimensional rocks, or always look at the two dimensional plants? Do you always look down to the ground and not up into the sky? No, you do not. Also, can you sense how some people feel different to you than others? Some people drain you, whereas other people give you strength. The first group is still asleep, but wants some of the FEEL that they unconsciously recognize in you. Because these people are still unaware of their power, they have no recognition that they are pulling on your energy field. They are not trying to harm you; they are simply unaware.
On the other hand, the second group of people is awake, and they nourish you with their wonderful energy field. In fact, you both experience a rush of renewed energy when you are together because you pull each other into the Oneness. These are the people you seek outwhen you want to relax and regenerate. Those of you who have awakened to your multidimensional consciousness are learning to discern between these two types of people. Within this discernment you will choose to spend less of your "time" with those who are depleting you and more time with those who appreciate you for being your SELF.You are the creator of your life and have the full ability to release that, which pulls on you. You do not have to associate with persons, places or situation that are unable to reciprocate by giving you light and/or love in return for the light and love you send them. If you feel you cannot leave this person, place, situation or thing, then you must go inside and find the reason why you are creating this energy-pull in your daily life. When you choose to remain in those situations, there is a great temptation to forget your SELF and fall into your wounded ego. If you can align your perceptions with the higher frequency expressions of your SELF, you will better understand the reason for this challenge in your life. From this higher perspective, you will be able to understand why you believe you deserve that treatment. Then, you can go to the source of that wounding and love it free. You are too important to Gaia to become lost in squabbles and confrontations based on lower frequency perceptions of life. You are wonderful, multidimensional beings who are busy with the process of ascending yourselves and your planet. ANY person, place, situation or thing that interferes with that Mission needs to be addressed, healed and/or released.Feel your Multidimensional SELF around you and unconditionally love the embryo of the New SELF within you. Remember to remember who you are and why you are currently holding a physical earth vessel. You are in the process of ascending beyond the polarity of conflict and confrontation and moving into a frequency in which EVERY emotion and thought becomes instantly manifest. Therefore, your greatest challenge is not with those around you, but within your heart and mind.

THE RETREAT TRIP
Our retreat will start in Johannesburg from where we set off on a journey to the north. The direction of North represents the ANCESTORS in tribal traditions and so on this trip we will be particularly blessed with opportunities to get in touch with the Ancestors of the Southern African region that hold great significance for ourselves and the future of beloved Africa.
After meeting at Johannesburg Airport, we travel north to first visit the Debengeni Falls with its tradition of the Modjaji Rain Queen. Next we visit the astounding lost civilisation of Mapungubwe. Many examples of artwork have been found here, including a golden RHINO. At Mapungubwe we do a special ceremony to connect with the Ancestors and honour the energies of the Rhino and other wild animals of the region. Here it is a time to build and strengthen important energies of balance and healing for the future.
Next we travel on to reach our very important destination of The Great Zimbabwe Ruins. On the significant date of 22/2/2012 and at the time of a new Moon, we do a special Earth ceremony to honour the Ancestors and to reconnect with the Ruins’ ancient links with the Great Pyramid of Egypt and the teachings of Egypt that were brought south. The Great Zimbabwe Ruins are mentioned as the most significant ruins south of the Sahara Desert. WE also visit Lake Kyle park to spend more time with the wild animals in the region and receive their blessing.
We travel further to another place of tremendous Earth power and here, in particular, of spiritual artistic expression, the Matobo Hills in the west of Zimbabwe. Huge boulders of granite testify to highly evolved civilisations who once walked the Earth and in caves you will find some of the most fascinating examples of ancient rock art.
Finally we move on to what must surely be one of the most inspiring and beautiful natural wonders of our world: the unforgettable Great Victoria Falls- a sight that overwhelms the senses with its the sheer spiritual power, ancient beauty, magnificence. We connect with the essence of Life, water, in all its abundance and power to bring back life to our Hearts, the Heart of Africa and the Greater Whole.
We return by plane from Victoria Falls to Johannesburg where our journey of re-awakening ends.

NOTES ON SITES:
Debengeni Falls
“The place of the big pot” is the English translation from the Pedi language for the word Debengeni. And what a word to describe what nature has created at the foot of the Magoebaskloof mountains, just out Tzaneen in the Limpopo province. The Ramadipa river cascades over 80m down the Debengeni Falls into a large basin which has been slowly formed over millions of years by the rivers powerful forces. Today the basin is an ideal spot for a dip in the cool refreshing waters. (Please note due to seasonal temperature changes, swimming is only recommended between December and March.)
MAPUNGUBWE KINGDOM (SOUTH AFRICA)
The ancient city of Mapungubwe, located at the basin of the Limpopo River in South Africa, is considered by some as the capital of Southern Africa’s first state, flourishing as a trading centre for a short period from 1220 to around 1300.
It centres round a steep-sided sandstone hill that was the home and burial ground of the elite and royalty. Artefacts, the most notable of which is a gold foil rhinoceros, were excavated from burial sites. Commoners lived on the surrounding plateau and at the foot of the hill, where court was held.
Ivory, gold and pottery were traded for beads and cloth.
Cultural, political and economic power shifted to Great Zimbabwe when climatic conditions changed and Mapungubwe went into decline.
Mapungubwe is a World Heritage Site
THE GREAT ZIMBABWE RUINS (ZIMBABWE)
Great Zimbabwe, sub-Saharan Africa's greatest ancient wonder and most important and largest stone ruins, was a medieval city that at its peak had up to 20 000 inhabitants. It was ideally placed on a route between inland gold-producing regions and ports on the Mozambique coast trading gold and ivory for beads, cloth and other goods.
Beautiful mortar-less granite walls curve sinuously over the landscape, the highest of which stand three stories high.
The ruins form three architectural groups known as the Hill Complex, the Valley Complex and the Great Enclosure. The Hill Complex, the oldest, is where it is thought the Great Zimbabwe Birds stood. The Great Enclosure, the most impressive ruin, was most likely a royal residence.
Great Zimbabwe may also have been a religious centre. Monoliths and altars are found throughout the site, and artefacts may have held religious meaning.
In addition to architecture, Great Zimbabwe's most famous works of art are the eight birds carved of soapstone that were found in its ruins. The birds surmount columns more than a yard tall and are themselves on average sixteen inches tall. The sculptures combine both human and avian elements, substituting human features like lips for a beak and five-toed feet for claws. Excavated at the turn of the century, it is known that six of the sculptures came from the Eastern Enclosure of the Hill complex, but unfortunately their precise arrangement can only be surmised. Scholars have suggested that the birds served as emblems of royal authority, perhaps representing the ancestors of Great Zimbabwe's rulers. Although their precise significance is still unknown, these sculptures remain powerful symbols of rule in the modern era, adorning the flag of Zimbabwe as national emblems.
The site’s abandonment was possibly due to changes in trade and dwindling resources.
Great Zimbabwe is also a World Heritage Site.
LAKE MUTURIKWE AND LAKE KYLE RECREATIONAL PARK (ZIMBABWE)
Lake Mutirikwe, formerly known as Lake Kyle, lies in south eastern Zimbabwe, south east of Masvingo and close to the Great Zimbabwe Ruins. It covers about 90 km² and was created in 1960 with the construction of the Kyle Dam on the Mutirikwe River. Lake Kyle Recreational Park lies on the reservoir's northern shore. It is a 4 800ha game park which is stocked with a variety of animals including white Rhino, Giraffe, Zebra and several species of antelope. The habitat in the park is varied and includes miombo woodland, granite outcrops, acacia thornveld and the lake shoreline. Over 270 species of birds have been recorded here.
MATOBO HILLS (ZIMBABWE)
The Matobo Hills have one of the highest concentrations of rock art in Southern Africa.
The earlier paintings, dated back at least 13,000 years, are essentially naturalistic interpretations of people, animals and trees. They are associated with hunting and gathering and are mostly executed using a red ochre pigment, mixed with an as yet unknown binder. The later paintings associated with farming communities used white pigment from kaolin or quartz. This distinction is common within the region, but stylistically Matobo is part of a rock-art 'region' stretching from South Africa to Tanzania. It is also interesting that many of the paintings have distorted body proportions to convey a sense of movement, or size to convey importance. In many sites there are layers of paintings superimposed one on top of the other. Images in the later paintings also appear to display a complex cosmology linked to religious beliefs.
The area has many distinctive rock landforms rising above the granite shield that covers much of Zimbabwe. Their forms have resulted from the varied composition and alignment of the granites, which responded differently to millions of years of weathering.
The discrete and often small sheltered spaces, formed between this dense collection of rocks, have fostered a wide variety of microclimates, allowing the development of an extremely diverse range of habitats. Out of 189 mammal species indigenous to Zimbabwe, 88 have been recorded in the Matobo Hills, plus a further 70 pairs of bird species.
THE GREAT VICTORIA FALLS (ZIMBABWE)
The Victoria Falls or Mosi-oa-Tunya (the Smoke that Thunders) is a waterfall located on the Zambezi River between the countries of Zambia and Zimbabwe.
While it is neither the highest nor the widest waterfall in the world, it is claimed to be the largest. This claim is based on a width of 1,708 metres (5,604 ft) and height of 108 metres (354 ft), forming the largest sheet of falling water in the world.
For a considerable distance upstream from the falls, the Zambezi flows over a level sheet of basalt, in a shallow valley bounded by low and distant sandstone hills. The river's course is dotted with numerous tree-covered islands, which increase in number as the river approaches the falls. There are no mountains, escarpments, or deep valleys which might be expected to create a waterfall, only flat plateau extending hundreds of kilometres in all directions.
The falls are formed as the full width of the river plummets in a single vertical drop into a transverse chasm 1708 metres (5604 ft) wide, carved by its waters along a fracture zone in the basalt plateau. The depth of the chasm, called the First Gorge, varies from 80 metres (260 ft) at its western end to 108 metres (354 ft) in the centre. The only outlet to the First Gorge is a 110 metres (360 ft) wide gap about two-thirds of the way across the width of the falls from the western end, through which the whole volume of the river pours into the Victoria Falls gorges.

What do I need to know about food?
Breakfasts are included in the retreat as indicated in the above itinerary. It is normally a varied buffet. Lunch and supper are not included in the overall costing of the retreat. This is to keep the cost of the trip flexible and make it easy for each person individually to decide what they would like to eat and also how much they want to spend on food.. Budget on between R100- R150 as an average cost per day for meals and eating out.
What is the accommodation like?
We stay in simple but very comfortable accommodation with two persons sharing, Be prepared to have your needs met, but nothing excessively luxurious.
How do we travel?
We travel as a group together by air conditioned mini van. We fly back from Victoria Falls to Johannesburg at the end of the trip. The cost of the flight is not included.
What do I need to know about weather?
It is summer time, so plenty of sunblock, hats and protective clothing, When packing it is best to bring layers that you can put on and take off

Timing
The dates of the trip has been given under guidance as an auspicious time to go, both energetically and also taking into account the climate. The ceremony of 22/2/2012 is very significant in that it works with the number 22 which is a master number (very powerful energy) and also takes account of the year 2012 that has the number 2 in it. It is also the time of a new moon, indicating new beginnings and a good time to put things in motion for manifestation.

• Casual day clothes such as T-shirts & shorts. While most accommodation is very casual, some have a smart-casual dress code for evening.

• Thongs/flip flops. Plastic shoes such as Strops are very useful for visiting the waterfalls as in high water months your shoes (and your clothes) will get wet!
• Light rain gear for summer months (late November to April)
• Swimming costume.
• long shorts to prevent your knees from burning in the sun and keep away mozzies.
• Camera equipment.
• South African travellers should take an international plug converter as both Zimbabwe and Zambia have square pin plugs.
• If you wear contact lenses, it may be a good idea to bring along a pair of glasses.
• Binoculars and a bird book if you are a keen bird watcher
• Personal toiletries and medication
• Malaria tablets and your yellow fever vaccination card (if travelling to or through Zambia and returning to RSA)
• Basic medical kit such as headache tablets, anti-histamine cream, Imodium.
• Insect repellent eg Tabard, Rid, Jungle Juice, etc
• Money: small denominations of USD the most useful to travel with in Zimbabwe. While South African Rand and other major currencies are widely accepted you may not like the rate of exchange you are given.
• A flashlight (torch). Please take spare batteries.
• Pen for filling out forms at passport controls.
• A sense of humour – This is Africa !
SPECIFIC ZIMBABWE TRAVEL INFO
Security:
The question is often asked “is it safe to go to Zimbabwe”? Absolutely, but as in most countries the locals can see that you are a tourist so be aware and take responsibility for the security of your stuff. Don’t create temptation by leaving cash and valuables lying around. Make use of the safe facilities that most lodges offer in facilities either in the rooms or at reception. As a tourist your valuable revenue is providing jobs and a lifeline to the families of those that are employed directly, and indirectly in the tourism industry.
Passports:
All visitors require valid passports to enter Zimbabwe
Passports must be valid for at least 6months and have at least 2 blank pages. See visa requirements below.
Visas:
Visas are only a formality for SA passport holders and passports are rubber stamped on entry to Zimbabwe.
Most passport holders including UK & US need a visa to enter Zimbabwe. Bar a few nationalities which require a visa prior to entering Zimbabwe, most visas can be bought on arrival in Zimbabwe. Only single and double entry visas can be obtained on arrival so if you are planning on going across to Livingstone for some activities and maybe to Chobe for the day you may want to consider getting a multiple entry visa before your arrival. These can only be obtained from a Zimbabwe Foreign office.
Money:
New: Credit cards can now be used in Victoria Falls, most lodges and hotels will accept Visa & MasterCard. ATM’s are also available at a number of locations.
Currency:
The official Zimbabwean currency is $US. Carry small denominations of dollars which you can use for drinks, tips and curios, South Africa Rand can also be used but not always at a great exchange rate, check before you spend.
DO NOT be tempted to change money with people on the street however charming or persistent. It’s against the law. Rather go to a reputable bureau de change.
Health:
The Victoria Falls region is a malaria area. Please consult a doctor. Be smart not paranoid. Cover up with long pants and shirts after dark, sleep under a mosquito net and use mosquito repellent. Be aware that a lot of anti malaria medication and pregnancies don’t go together.
Victoria Falls is serviced by medical air rescue services (MARS) They will be able to attend to you in an emergency and, if required, airlift you to the nearest hospital facility that can treat your condition.
All visitors are responsible for their own travel and medical insurance. Please ensure fully for emergency evacuation, medical, curtailment and repatriation.
No Yellow Fever vaccination is required for Victoria Falls Zimbabwe unless you enter the Zimbabwe via Zambia. Any visitor from South Africa who enters into Zambia will require a yellow fever vaccination certificate available at most Travel Clinics.
